Hi, I’m Jake Goldstein. I’m an avid developer and artist with a passion for the abstractions of technology. I could go on and on about coding because I have an obsession with it, but for the sake of brevity, I like to consider my journey starting when I was about 12 years old. We started by learning filmmaking and explored every aspect of that, then on to photography, drawing and painting. Each one scratches my creative itch for self expression. As I got older I wanted something that would fulfill my needs for creativity, problem solving, and helping people. When we were about 18 was when we were first introduced to the world of coding. His older brother had worked at MondoDB and thought we would make good programmers so almost every weekend we would go to his apartment and he gave us little lessons in C. I still have some of the first programs saved in my google drive! Eventually we found ourselves exploring javascript and ever since the learning curve has been exponential. At the time I was taking Computer Science classes at my community college. I found that I was having more success teaching myself so I followed that route. Finally, I felt that I needed more of a push, more of a crowd of like-minded people to help me excel my growth as a developer so I attended Full-Stack academy. My goal as a developer is to impact somebody’s day to day, do something meaningful for the world, and as I see it coding gives me the best accessibility to that.
