# James Cammarano > Software Engineer Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jamescammarano James Cammarano is primarily a father to his plants. Almost as much as the fatherly love he gives to his plants is the attention he takes in his code. He believes that planning, testing, and organizing clean code are vital to any successful system. James Cammarano has fallen head over heels for TypeScript and Node.JS but hasn't forgotten the lessons learned from the object-oriented languages he started on Ruby and Python. With TypeScript, the draw is in being able to organize code through interfaces and types. With Ruby on Rails, the draw was being able to quickly scaffold a project and get working, readable code to production with efficiency. With Python, the draw was in learning to follow a strict design pattern which led to consistent and organized code. Jay Cammarano has worked on teams doing hackathons, as well as solo on private projects. He has worked successfully under leadership and guidance as well as been his own boss. He values strong leadership, comradery amongst team mates, and working together to make and meet goals. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Departure Labs Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 ### Software Engineer @ Directus Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### Information Systems Assistant I (Backend Web Developer Intern) @ Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 Currently completing a systems status page for the Oceananographic Observatory Institute using WordPress and Django.
