# Jason Kang > Software Engineer Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jasonkang An enthusiastic and driven EECS student at UC Berkeley interested in solving new problems through full stack software development ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Google Jan 2022 – Present | Sunnyvale, California, United States ### Software Engineer @ EasyPost Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### Data Science Intern @ Myst AI Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Software Engineer Intern @ Microsoft Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 Designed and prototyped distributed SQL queries for SQL Server. The functionalities included pushdown predicates, partial aggregation, and scale on demand. Worked extensively with different teams in Microsoft to analyze and combine different products in SQL to achieve distributed SQL queries for customers. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Cohesity Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Jose, California ▪ Designed and created end to end process with both client and server that communicates with Google protocol buffers. Main functionality include supporting concurrent read and write requests and file logging to verify correctness. These were all tested extensively with millions of requests with thousands of clients. ▪ Improved the stub cache used for all processes, which is a thread-safe cache that stores network connections for local processes that need to communicate to remote processes. The stub cache load balances the requests and the bandwidths of the TCP endpoints, so that the local load distribution is optimal. ▪ Isolation testing of the stub cache improvement with up to 100% increase in throughput and negligible effect on latency. ▪ Researched on new compression algorithm LZ4X with extensive benchmark testing. ### Sofware Engineering Intern @ California Path Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Berkeley, CA -Develop a public transit React Native mobile application to support ticket purchasing and trip matching for public transit services like Bart and AC transit -Use Expo SDK to build front-end ticket screen with push notifications and dynamic display for trip confirmation, payment, and location tracking -Design and integrate backend APIs in Python for retrieving real-time transit service information, matching the user location with the bus location and saving users’ trip information on AWS servers ### Young Scholar Researcher @ Florida State University Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Tallahassee, Florida Area -Among the top 40 students in Florida invited to the Young Scholar Program -Presented a research report on the Simultaneous Biodegradation of Trichloroethylene and 1,4-Dioxane in Groundwater -Operated a Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) system and an Ion Chromatography (IC) system to carry out chemical analysis of water samples ### Research Intern @ Tall Timbers Research Station & Land Conservancy Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Tallahassee, Florida Area -Developed a website on information about plant life history characteristics (http://coastalplainplants.org) -Researched and synthesized information from scientific literature and herbarium specimens for inclusion in the database, using Microsoft Excel and Access database software -Maintained and updated 100+ web pages using WikiMedia software ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science University of California, Berkeley Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jk0524 --- Source: https://flows.cv/jasonkang JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/jasonkang/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
