Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Mountain View, CA • Made the case for a new architecture (Tax Knowledge Engine) for TurboTax based on user data. Jan 2010 – Jan 2013 | Mountain View, CA • Launched Intuit’s first Mobile Pattern Library with over 30 iOS and Android design patterns, many also containing associated code components. Patterns were authored and reviewed by a cross-company group of designers. • Increased mobile knowledge and collaboration throughout Intuit by hosting 2 internal conferences known as the “Mobile Hoedowns,” featuring internal and external presenters speaking about mobile design. • Supported teams for upcoming iOS & Android releases by providing design recommendations and creating appropriate assets. ### User Experience Manager @ Aha by Harman Jan 2009 – Jan 2010 | Palo Alto, CA • Led design of the Aha iOS client, from feature sketches to acceptance in App Store. Jan 2007 – Jan 2009 | Mountain View, CA • Led the design of the first Loopt client for iPhone; showcased at Apple’s WWDC event and television commercials. • Designed the Loopt client for the T-Mobile G1 running on the Android platform. • Redesigned the new user sign-up process for all Verizon and Sprint mobile handsets in order to reduce number of screens while providing user education. ### User Experience Researcher @ Microsoft Jan 2006 – Jan 2007 | Redmond, WA • Performed contextual inquiries to understand feature usage in Media Center’s new version and how it varies with relation to user personas. • Redesigned internal website for the usability team to increase collaboration among team members and visibility of upcoming studies and presentation to the entire organization. • Observed the out-of-box setup experience of Media Center to expose areas of confusion or frustration with both new users and upgraders from previous versions of the product. • Proposed and implemented all aspects of a comprehensive baseline study for the Vista release of Windows Media Center from concept to presentation of all results. ### Senior Human Factors Engineer @ QUALCOMM Incorporated Jan 2004 – Jan 2006 | Greater San Diego Area • Managed the entire team’s conversion of user interface specifications to an XML-based format, allowing documentation to be filtered for specific handset configurations. • Revised and expanded the division’s reference user-interface paradigm to accommodate low-end black & white mobile handsets through high-tier platforms with multi-tasking. • Created screen flows and functional specifications for the messaging application on an entry-level mobile handset. • Principal contributor to the creation of a new specification format that increased understanding of each mobile feature’s core scenarios while maintaining technical detail for the implementation team. ### Usability Engineer @ Nokia Jan 2001 – Jan 2003 | Greater San Diego Area • Gained extensive real-world experience in conducting all components of usability studies, including experimental methodology, test proposals, participant recruitment, moderator interaction, statistical analysis, and presentation of findings. • Created computer-based messaging simulations with Visio/Visual Basic for usability tests and to convey design suggestions to Verizon Wireless. • Composed highlight videos of usability studies using Adobe Premiere/DV hardware.
