I still spend a significant amount of time writing code and building side projects, particularly around applied AI and developer tools.

Outside of work I occasionally speak at events, organize technical meetups, write about technology and markets, and make small angel investments in early-stage startups.

### Engineering Manager @ Twilio
Jan 2016 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area
Engineering leader working on large-scale messaging and communications infrastructure at Twilio. Previously served as Staff Engineer and Tech Lead across several core platform teams.

Over the course of my time at Twilio I have worked across phone numbers, fax, and messaging data platforms, focusing on systems that operate at global scale and support Twilio’s core communications products.

Selected work:

• Led development of Twilio's phone number geography system, enabling automated classification of global number inventory and supporting expansion of the Phone Numbers platform from ~12 to 100+ countries.

• Worked on Twilio's messaging data platform, supporting the company’s highest-scale database systems and APIs.

• Won a company-wide hackathon with a project that became Twilio's AI support and recommendations assistant for customers. The project was subsequently funded, developed to general availability, and is now used by customers to diagnose messaging configuration and delivery issues. Patent pending.

Recipient of the Superb Owl Award, Twilio’s internal recognition for exceptional technical impact.

### Software Engineer in Test – Automation Developer @ Haivision
Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 | Montreal, Canada Area
Worked on automation and performance testing infrastructure for large-scale video streaming systems used by military and healthcare organizations

• Built internal tooling and web applications for automation and testing (Python, Ruby)
• Developed distributed load-testing systems capable of simulating thousands of clients across networks
• Created automation frameworks covering APIs, databases, and streaming protocols (HLS, RTMP, transport streams)

### Quality Assurance Intern @ ComQi
Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Burlington, Ontario
Worked on software and network testing for digital signage systems, developing test cases and assisting with hardware assembly and release validation.

Later took on additional responsibility coordinating QA activities and onboarding incoming interns.
