### Software Engineer Intern @ Yugabyte

- Worked on development of YugabyteDB, a high-performance distributed SQL database
- Focused on performance improvements in YSQL, YugabyteDB’s PostgreSQL compatible API
- Added support for transactional bulk inserts which lead to a 30x speedup in the COPY command
- Developed a single row UPDATE/DELETE fast path which lead to a 2.5x speedup for affected queries
- Implemented aggregate pushdowns for YSQL in the distributed storage layer which lead to 99% fewer RPCs for aggregate queries (e.g. COUNT(*))
- Created atomic filesystem startup procedure to gracefully recover from node creation failures
