# Jeet Gupta > Mechanical Design Engineer, Exterior Systems | Lucid Motors | Prev Tesla | Purdue University | VIT, Vellore | Product Design & Development | Validation & Testing Location: Newark, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jeetgupta 👋 Hey there! I’m Jeet, aspiring Product design Engineer with a passion for designing and building the future. From Lucid Motors to Tesla, I've been at the forefront of exciting innovations in mechanical design and manufacturing. Whether it's creating sleek exterior trims or optimizing drive systems, I love transforming complex challenges into tangible solutions that make a difference. I thrive in the world of injection molding, sheet metal design, and all things mechanical engineering—using my skills to develop products that are efficient, reliable, and cost-effective. But here’s the fun part: I’m also an aspiring performance artist! My love for creativity keeps me curious and open to how art and engineering can blend in surprising ways. Let’s connect if you’re into: 1. Collaborating on cool mechanical design projects 2. Sharing insights on manufacturing innovation 3. Chatting about how engineering meets creativity I’m always looking to network, learn, and create something amazing together! Feel free to drop me a message or send a connection request—I’d love to hear from you! 🤝 ## Work Experience ### Mechanical Design Engineer, Exterior Systems @ Lucid Motors Jan 2024 – Present | Newark, CA Lucid Nexus (Autonomous Vehicle) (May 2025 - Present) •Validated robust joint design through rigorous first-principles hand calculations, evaluating torque retention, differential thermal growth, and bending moments to prevent failure in extreme operating environments. • Collaborated with industrial designers and cross-functional teams to resolve packaging challenges balancing cosmetics, manufacturing, serviceability. electronics (Camera, LCD screen, Mic and Lidar) performance, mounting and locating strategy. • Conducted advanced static structural and modal analyses in ANSYS to optimize component stiffness, predict resonance frequencies, and successfully drive mass reduction without compromising performance. • Accelerated the product development lifecycle by leveraging 3D printing and CNC machining to quickly fabricate functional prototypes, enabling rapid physical validation of form, fit, and function. • Optimized manufacturing costs by applying strategic GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to 2D prints, deliberately maximizing tolerance bands while strictly maintaining critical-to-function requirements for complex exterior assemblies. • Authored detailed DVP documentation to standardize testing procedures and facilitated cross-functional DFMEA sessions to ensure high reliability and safety standards for critical sub-assemblies. Lucid Gravity (Jan 2024 - May 2025) • Owned exterior chrome finisher system which consists of 8+ injection molded components delivering to tight project deadlines. • Developed technical documents from scratch such as DFMEA, DVPnR, SCCAF, ESOW to source and validate multiple components. • Implemented DOEs to root cause engg. issues using fishbone, tolerance stackup analysis resulting in smooth launch and handover. • Delivered 2+ structural components from concept to grave incorporating rapid prototyping, FEA and cross functional alignment. ### Mechanical Design Engineer, Drive Unit Structures @ Tesla Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Palo Alto, California, United States • Designed ALDC electronic cover and mounting bracketry using core design methodologies resulting in 10% reduction in weight. • Created complex 3D assemblies and 2D drawings, incorporating GDT principles and communicated with contract manufacturers. • Conducted DOEs on O-rings and PIP seals, validating performance and worked cross functionally to implement design changes(ECN) ### Manufacturing Engineer, Power Electronics @ Tesla Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Austin, Texas, United States • Assisted in landing two Drive Inverter automated lines (SAT and ramp up). • Worked closely with the Design team to improve manufacturability (DFM/DFA). • Drove DOE, DFM activities, correlation studies, SPC analysis, Root cause analysis and inspection system. • Collaborated with cross functional teams including Product Design, Materials, Quality, Project Management. • Process research, development, and validation for new manufacturing technologies on inverters. Job roles included designing experiments, CAD and fabrication of test fixtures, and analyzing data. • Implemented GR&R, OEE requirements, Equipment qualification, MES, equipment debug and daily build plans. ### Mechanical Engineering Intern @ DELP purdue Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | West Lafayette, Indiana, United States Design and manufacturing of a rail bot for a MNC. ### Visiting Research Student @ Cranfield University Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Shrivenham, England, United Kingdom Aerodynamics and Aeroacoustics study for the flow over a Porous Aerofoil. ### CFD Research Intern @ DHIO Research & Engineering Pvt Ltd., Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | India ### CAE Research Intern @ Simulation Lab ™ Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Pune, Maharashtra, India ### Mechanical Design Intern @ Infinite Graphix Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 ### Product Design Intern @ CamCann Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 ### Volunteer trainee @ Nuclear Power Corporation Of India Limited (Npcil) Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Mechanical Engineering Purdue University ### Bachelor of Technology - BTech in Mechanical Engineering Vellore Institute of Technology ### Higher Education in PCM St. Dominic High School ### Primary Education in Science Sacred Heart School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jeetgupta37 --- Source: https://flows.cv/jeetgupta JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/jeetgupta/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
