Helped reduce the # of duplicated Go services created - Created a leaderboard to encourage friendly competition among teams to design the most reusable, user friendly Go service April 2023 - Feb 2024 - Lead the first ever ephemeral environment testing at Coinbase using header based routing with service mesh - Automated the process for finding slack channel given a Pull Request. Helped save engineers 10 hours a week. Technologies: Ruby, Redis, Memcache, Docker, Sidekiq, Github Webhook, Github API, AWS RDS - Helped save engineers another 10 hours a week by adding a feature that allows you to copy and paste a generated message for getting a code review. This automation is added to a Github Notifier Chrome Extension. Technologies: React, NX, Writing code for a Chrome Extension - Migrating a legacy service written in Ruby from using AWS EC2 to Kubernetes to save cost and maximize resource usage. Technologies: AWS EC2, Application Load Balancer, Kubernetes Coinbase Design System: Frontend DevX Platform Team (Feb 2021 - April 2023) - Built and maintained Coinbase Design System. - Collaborated with Designers to build 11+ components for both Mobile (React Native) and Web (React) - Built the first ever illustration component and automated the pipeline. This ensures that all illustrations at Coinbase has a single source of truth. - Helped build and maintain frontend-end infrastructure tools to power Coinbase Design System. This includes imagining different ways to help decrease bundle size so that deploy can happen faster. - Migrated Coinbase Design System out of the monorepo into its own polyrepo. This helped 10x the productivity of engineers at Coinbase as CI/CD time was reduced from 1hr to 10min. ### Campus Ambassador @ CodeSignal Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 ### Research Programmer @ Rochester Institute of Technology Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | Rochester, New York Area We are creating a system to make finding mathematical information easier. We want students of all ages and the general public to be able to quickly lookup unfamiliar symbols, and see how formulas are defined, used, and analyzed in online resources like Wikipedia, Math StackExchange, and technical document collections such as CiteSeerX. These technologies will also be useful for math experts, and for exploring how math is used within and across disciplines. For example, a mathematician studying graph theory could use our system to find related applications in physics, ecology, and social networks. Demos: https://www.cs.rit.edu/~dprl/mathseer/demos.html Collaborated with 5 other members to develop and design the MathSeer web interface. Working on improving the accuracy of SymbolScraper. An open source device to help find exact location of glyph characters in PDF document. ### Backend Software Engineer @ Tencent Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Shenzhen, Guangdong, China • Added features to query credit card and establish auto-pay agreement between Merchant and Users on WeChat Pay Hong Kong Mobile Application using C++, and MYSQL • Wrote automated testing scripts using Python for self-written features ### Software Engineer @ Octopus Cards Limited Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Hong Kong • Collaborated with a team to release the first prototype for enabling Wi-Fi on Octopus card reader hardware across all buses in Hong Kong. • Wrote shell scripts to test Wi-Fi performance when used by many users, and used for a prolonged period • Added a feature on their existing internal test tool to parse bytes on the RFID using C. The parsed information makes it easier to do preprocessing work, (i.e coupon deduction etc...). Reading it as a raw form makes it more cumbersome to work with the data. • Participated in discussing with clients on requirement analysis. Based on client feedbacks, designed and developed an android app that acts as a controller for the card reader (Demo: https://vimeo.com/287880129). ### Embedded Software Engineer @ RailComm Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Rochester, New York Area • Created a database web application with MSSQL, AngularJS, and Flask to help company improve work efficiency • Initiated to make a web application using Flask, Python, and Threading concepts to triggers action on hardware and allow user to view hardware I/O result • Wrote a C program to enable I2C communication between Varascite board and STM32 ### Systems Engineer Intern @ OOCL Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Hong Kong • Developed a Node.js sample web application demonstrating how developers could benefit from using Object storage over block storage • Wrote programs for data analytics on log errors using Splunk and ELK. The purpose of data logging was to identify failures in clusters on the servers. The analytics was pulling commonly found log errors from clusters, so that we can make preventative measures for the issues that are occurring most frequently. Additionally, we also logged the times at which these errors occurred, and found that there were certain times when these errors were more likely to occur than others. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science Rochester Institute of Technology ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jennifer-liu-1996hk --- Source: https://flows.cv/jenniferliu JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/jenniferliu/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
