Worked on a small team developing a powerful new system for creating quizzes in Canvas. Developed backend services (Ruby) for the frontend (React) to consume.

### Senior Software Engineer @ MasteryConnect
Jan 2014 – Jan 2016 | Salt Lake City, UT
Worked on new features, bug fixes, and refactoring for the main MasteryConnect web application (Rails). Quickly promoted to a team lead, managing a team of three developers and a dedicated QA person.
•	Led team on several complicated projects, such as completely overhauling the report card system, as well as merging the unaligned gradebook system into the aligned gradebook system.
•	Worked on “extracurricular” projects such as picking off inefficient calls in NewRelic, database obfuscation, and the deployment process.

I was invited to come back to UtahRealEstate.com, having worked there in 2009-2010. This time I primarily worked on the brand new iOS/Android apps, which they decided to implement using the cross-platform Titanium SDK. I also helped set up a new web service platform, running on Laravel, to drive the mobile app and website in tandem.
•	Helped deliver major new features such as Showing Lists.
•	Refactored the mobile app mapping class from 440 lines to a much cleaner 240 lines, fixing many bugs in the process.

I was rehired into the same department I worked for in 2006-2007. I was also promoted to a team lead a few months in, managing a couple of other developers and coordinating with QA. Worked on various database applications, scripts, and services touching every aspect of the business.
•	Release manager for the department, responsible for deploying around 10 applications across 3 different production environments.

### Freelance Software Engineer @ Self-Employed

•	Refactored a company's database application to accommodate dynamic client listings, and added a client administration panel.
•	Helped execute a redesign for a music site. Implemented some supporting backend functionality and a great deal of frontend functionality, such as a music player bar.

Primarily worked on helping rewrite the old inline PHP site in Zend Framework, as well as adding new features.
•	Ported the administrative reporting and fine systems to Zend.
•	Fixed many bugs, including a couple of long-standing bugs that had eluded previous repair attempts.

Worked on features and fixes for the new version of their primary web application, transitioning from inline PHP to Photon Framework.
•	Migrated second-largest client to new system with zero defects.
•	Designed and implemented a new dynamic virtual host setup for the team’s microsites, saving weeks (maybe months) of PM and development time.
•	Created a custom GUI for our Subversion deployment process, ensuring we weren’t losing commits. Invaluable for PM.
•	Team 2 “Employee of the Month” in Q1 2008, and member of “Team of the Quarter” for Q3 2008.

Worked on various intranet database applications and scripts, particularly the tracking and reporting system. Designed database schema and troubleshot issues in large databases.
