# Jenny K. > Product Designer | Complex Systems & High-Trust Experiences Location: United States, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jennyk I’m a Product Designer drawn to complex, high-trust systems where clarity matters. My work centers on understanding how things actually operate—the rules, constraints, and handoffs behind the interface—and shaping experiences that remain clear and resilient in real-world use. I’m most comfortable in ambiguous, cross-functional environments where alignment isn’t automatic. By surfacing tradeoffs early and bringing structure to how teams work, I help collaboration and decision-making happen more naturally. The result is fewer downstream surprises and products that hold up as they scale. My background in education, experience in early-stage startups, and a year-long healthcare sabbatical have shaped how I approach product work. Clarity, handoffs, and trust aren’t abstract ideas to me—they’re practical requirements in systems where mistakes have real consequences. Outside of work, I gravitate toward systems-heavy hobbies like tabletop RPGs and chainmail, which reinforce my appreciation for rules, structure, and thoughtful craft. ## Work Experience ### Product Designer @ Rocket Lawyer Jan 2020 – Present | San Francisco, California, United States • Designed and evolved complex, high-trust workflows across multiple product areas within a regulated legal domain, improving clarity in compliance-driven user journeys and decision flows. • Contributed to the RocketDocument API, translating intricate document logic into scalable user experiences that supported a strategic Adobe partnership. • Shaped experience design for Rocket Tax, including work supporting the Taxfyle partnership, simplifying multi-step workflows and reducing friction during high-stakes customer interactions. • Applied user research, usability testing, and product data to surface usability risks and edge cases early, strengthening product decisions and reducing downstream rework. • Strengthened release readiness by clarifying acceptance criteria, documenting expected behaviors and edge cases during UAT, and aligning cross-functional teams prior to launch. • Stepped into ambiguous initiatives to clarify workflows, constraints, and user impact before development, helping teams move forward with greater clarity and confidence. ### Lead Designer @ Quench Poverty Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Fremont, CA Designed mockups and interactive prototypes for a nonprofit mobile app that promoted access to clean water. The app functioned as both a water intake tracker and a tool for raising awareness, encouraging user engagement through simple, motivating interactions. Conducted competitor and market analysis of health and habit-tracking apps to identify usability gaps and effective patterns, using those insights to refine flows, interactions, and overall experience. ### First Designer @ Copia Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Designed and led end-to-end product experiences across B2B and B2C platforms. This included the first food donation and waste-tracking system for business partners—supporting a $1M partnership with The Cheesecake Factory—as well as a consumer-facing app that helped nonprofits manage and track donations more effectively. Led research and design for internal and external logistics tools, beginning with a standalone internal platform and later evolving it to incorporate a DoorDash integration to support donation pickup and delivery workflows. The work involved balancing real-world operational constraints with usability across multiple user types as the system scaled. Established and applied user research practices—such as interviews, usability testing, and competitive analysis—to validate features, surface gaps, and guide iteration. Insights from this work directly informed product direction and experience improvements. Partnered closely with executives, product, and engineering to shape UX strategy across web and mobile. Regularly presented design work to leadership and investors, contributing to successful annual fundraising efforts. ### UX Design Intern @ Copia Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Graphic & Web Design Assistant @ Sauced Media Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 | Boston, MA Developed and executed social media and email marketing campaigns for clients in Boston and Hong Kong, creating visual and written collateral tailored to different audiences and markets.
