# Jeremy Baker > Staff Software Engineer Location: Buffalo, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jeremybaker ## Work Experience ### Staff Software Engineer @ Order.co Jan 2024 – Present I technically planned further Off-Catalog feature work that allows virtual card transactions to be split and billed as separate units. I collaborated with other pods to coordinate related work as the feature work bridged multiple functional areas. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Order.co Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 I technically planned, groomed tickets, and implemented the Off-Catalog feature of Order.co largely on my own due to our principle engineer leaving and other pod turnover. This feature continues to break new TPV records every month and is used by over a third of Order's customer base. Alongside my pod, I integrated AfterShip into our product. The successful integration drastically reduced our customer support requests of customers asking "where's my order?". This increased customer delight with our product and let our support team allocate resources on more important areas. I spearheaded the initiative to get our Rails app upgraded from 4.2 to 5.0. The majority of test code was fixed by myself and another engineer. This lead the initiative to be picked up by the wider engineering organization, prioritized as part of our pod priorities, and led to a successful upgrade launch. I planned and executed the technical rebranding of the app from Negotiatus to Order.co on a pod with only one other peer engineer working alongside me. ### Lead Software Engineer @ Immersed Games Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | Buffalo/Niagara, New York Area I work with our CEO to facilitate two scrum teams, one for web and one for game development. While many web responsibilities remain the same as my previous position, I do significantly less web development and instead focus on gameplay dev/support with the Unreal Engine. I mainly handle game infrastructure and development pipeline concerns but occasionally work directly on gameplay features. I managed our transition from a native, install-based product to an browser-based game. As part of this effort, I also wrote a custom authentication protocol that interfaces with CAS to solve our authentication problems in the new browser environment. ### Web Developer (Ruby on Rails) @ Immersed Games Jan 2016 – Jan 2019 I oversee all web development at Immersed, most notably our authentication server and parental dashboards. Our stack consists of PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, React, and GraphQL. Older parts of our stack that are being phased out include Redux and jQuery. I am responsible for all web-related planning, deployments, and infrastructure using AWS Elastic Beanstalk, previously Heroku. ### Gameplay Programmer and Blueprint Scriptor @ Immersed Games Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 I worked in both C++ and Unreal Engine's Blueprint language to assist Immersed with the creation of their proof-of-concept game Tyto Ecology. I worked on a wide variety of tasks including UI creation, AI pathfinding, and improving many of the date/time-based calculations. ### Web Master/Front End Developer for the DSR Group @ University of Florida Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 I maintain the Data Science Research (DSR) Group's Wordpress website. This process involves updating content/news, ensuring responsive design, and developing an aesthetically appealing layout. I am also in the process of designing and developing the front-end interface for the SigmaKB project, a combined database application, using Ruby on Rails. I am developing the interface from scratch using the standard web stack (HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery) along with Bootstrap. ### Web Development Intern @ peerfit Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 I reorganized a large part of peerFit's Wordpress website by converting all CSS to LESS and developed improved layouts for various pages. This process involved working heavily with command-line Git, BitBucket, Vim, and Wordpress. ### UF Ambassador @ Google Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 I was responsible for promoting Google products at UF, especially Google Apps for Education. My overall goals for the events I organized was to foster relations between Google, UF, and UF students. ### CEO @ Liftoff Music Company Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 Liftoff was my startup project focused on providing specialized crowdfunding services to bands and solo artists. This specialized CFP aimed to provide services such as merchandising and tour organization assistance in order to help new and indie artists get started and support themselves. ### Cadet @ HackerHouse Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 I worked with other HackerHouse cadets to produce a prototype service/product that eventually went on to become Liftoff Music Company. During this time, I was mentored by experienced entrepreneurs including Agapitus Lye, founder of Trendy Entertainment and ToneRite, the McGurns of McGurn Management, and Christian von Kleist and Amir Rubin, founders of Paracosm. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Mindtree Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Gainesville I studied iconography, learned basic front-end web technologies, and designed a landing page under the guidance of an experienced UI/UX specialist. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science University of Florida Jan 2010 – Jan 2015 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jeremyjaybaker --- Source: https://flows.cv/jeremybaker JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/jeremybaker/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
