Limitless was acquired by Meta less than a year after that. ### Head of Hardware @ R-Zero Jan 2020 – Jan 2023 I was employee #5 at R-Zero and built our hardware engineering team as well as scaled manufacturing through three rounds of venture capital financing. R-Zero designs and manufactures UVC disinfection systems for schools, senior care, medical, and government facilities. Some projects include: R-Zero Arc The Arc is a floor standing UVC device designed to disinfect a room with 99.99% efficacy in under 7 minutes with 400x less waste than a comparable cleaning using chemicals. I owned manufacturing bringup and scaling at our contract manufacturer in San Jose California. I also created quality control and engineering best practices for R-Zero’s growing team. The Arc won an International Design Excellence Award. R-Zero Beam The Beam is an upper-room UVC system designed to disinfect the upper layer of air in a room thus reducing bioburden and increasing the effective air exchange. I lead the technical team for this product as well as serving as senior engineer on the project, going from concept to market in under 9 months. The Beam won the Red Dot Design Award. R-Zero Vive The Vive is a 222nm far-UVC product that disinfects both air and surfaces while being safe for human occupancy. I managed my team’s development of this product while also leading R&D efforts into new (as yet unreleased) products and technologies.
