Worked with a team of two engineers and one designer to develop Education.com’s ‘Collection’ feature. Collections allows site members to centrally collect items such as worksheets, activities and articles for either personal use or to share with others via email, or social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin. Education.com handles roughly 3 million organic visitors each month and typically sees more than 1 million page views a day with an ever growing member base.
Developed modules that retrieved model data from our optimized Mysql database, performed business logic, and provided that data for display via our front end templates. Dynamically created collection images which comprised manipulating and merging the top four items within the collection. Extended existing CSS to allow for the new collections layout. Assisted in all aspects of the design cycle until post roll-out in August 2011.
