# Jessica Sachs > Senior Software Engineer, Open-Source Web Dev, Building Developer Tools @ Ionic Location: Austin, Texas, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jessicasachs I'm a product-minded frontend developer with an accomplished track record of developing, managing, speaking, and teaching in both the public Open Source space and at private companies. I specialize in TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue.js, bundlers (Vite, Webpack, and Rollup), frontend component libraries, developer tooling, testing, and library authoring. I speak about testing, open source tools, and Vue.js. I’m also a fan of Vite, UnoCSS, and Vitest. A few times a year, I teach workshops at conferences in the US and sometimes abroad. Usually about Vue, Vite, or Cypress, but sometimes about other stuff – working with bundlers, building style guides, or refactoring legacy code. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Ionic Jan 2023 – Present | Austin, Texas, United States Building developer tooling and libraries for other software developers! I lead workshops, speak, and travel across the world to educate and train other engineers on how to approach building modern mobile apps with (or without!) Ionic. Special interest in Stencil.js and cross-compilation between frontend frameworks. ### Team Member @ Faker.js Jan 2022 – Present | Remote Led the recovery of the maliciously deleted Faker.js (6.6M+ downloads/month) and formed a community-controlled team alongside 7 other developers from across the world. Due to the media attention received by the project, I managed the community support and backlash we received in various forms. In response, I wrote an announcement post to communicate the leadership change that wound up in the #1 spot on HackerNews. I also garnered buy-in and support from community leaders throughout the tech community (cross-language). I collaborated with Open Collective leadership directly to plan a cut-over of funding from the malicious author to the new team. I also secured funding ($10k+ USD) for the project from Indeed. I managed the library's community and social media presence, built the docs site, and drove the new library's adoption. Additionally as a team member, I participated in roadmapping and the technical vision of the project. All of this allowed the rest of the team to focus on coding. ### Staff Software Engineer @ PathAI Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Boston, MA During the day, I lead the development of the frontend component library "Anodyne", mentor, pair, teach, and unblock individual contributors across 4 product teams. Additionally, I partner with non-technical stakeholders to ensure the frontend is best positioned to empower product objectives. I've also championed and implemented the creation of frontend guilds at PathAI, including their representation in OKRs. In an effort to improve overall velocity and quality, we've addressed technical debt across the 6 primary repositories developers work in, including implementation of modern build tooling, testing practices, and a state management library. ### Teacher @ Vue Mastery Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 Teaching and writing content for the the testing track at Vue Mastery! ### Staff Software Engineer @ Cypress.io Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States I led the re-design and re-architecture of the Cypress app by working closely with the founder and acting in a product-owner capacity for Cypress - a developer tools product. I also managed a group of 5 Senior Engineers and worked cross-functionally with DX and Marketing to position and launch a new product. During my day-to-day, I was also responsible for the development of the Cypress.io Test Runner, with a focus on component testing, and DX for emerging Open Source technologies. ### Staff Software Engineer @ Intent Jan 2015 – Jan 2020 | Greater Boston Area Staff Engineer and Tech Lead on the Frontend Ad Placements team. Serving >20M advertisements a day across travel and content sites. I work cross-functionally with other teams to solve open-ended problems involving: * Design Systems and Component Libraries * Maintaining and developing legacy systems * In-browser performance * CDN/Origin optimization and infrastructure * GDPR compliance * Improving developer experience During my time here, I have helped our company adopt: * Blue/green deploy and canary testing * Modern bundling and testing tools * Lean micro-frontends with Vue On Intent's Ads Platform, we provide advertising experiences powered by data science. Our ads are interactive and contentful. ### Lead Quality Engineer @ Kinsa Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | New York, NY Kinsa built an IOT thermometer MedTech device to Apple Stores and Target that was powered by a Smart Phone. I led Software, Hardware, and Medical Compliance testing on a small team of 12. I was responsible for all quality testing across an array of devices which I performed both manually and with the aid of Appium. I was #1 on StackOverflow for Appium mobile device testing for ~3 years. I also wrote a Python + Matplotlib tool to visualize and help interpret temperature point anomalies in a given "trace dump" from a unique temperature measurement. ### Lead Quality Engineer @ Liquid Analytics Jan 2012 – Jan 2014 | New York, NY We developed Enterprise iOS applications for Wholesale Distributors. Our applications were performant and handled large datasets. The apps supported two-way sync between the native app and SAP HANA, built on a home-rolled sync solution before CloudKit existed. I was the Lead QA for 17 production-quality applications. ## Education ### Saint Johns River State College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jess-sh - Website: https://jess.sh --- Source: https://flows.cv/jessicasachs JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/jessicasachs/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
