# Jevin Sidhu > Software Engineer Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/jevin I grew up playing video games (NBA Live, Smash Bros, and Halo), watching a lot of sci-fi (The Matrix, Blade Runner, and Star Wars), and playing basketball. While I was interested in tech, I didn't start coding till later on in high school. When I did start, I found I learned best when I taught others. I founded a non-for-profit, Cipher, with a couple of friends and we ran workshops and hackathons to introduce programming to other high schoolers. After high school, studying computer science was a no-brainer. In the summer, I worked at Mappedin, where I built indoor mapping experiences that appear across the globe. After studying for two years, I took a gap year. I worked at HXOUSE, a creative incubator founded by The Weeknd, La Mar Taylor, and Ahmed Ismail. Then, I worked at Tesla and Shopify. I also volunteered with North America's largest hackathon, Hack the North. Created pipelines to funnel data into interfaces I built on Facebook's Creator Studio. ### Backend Developer @ Shopify Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Toronto, Ontario, Canada Developed internal applications on the Culture Tools team, serving 5000 employees as they transitioned to working remotely. Ideated, prototyped, and developed an internal hackathon application that presented video demos and tracked viewing stats. Refactored backend model in AMA tool to represent “presentations", enabling multiple people to assume control over moderator responsibilities. ### Software Engineer @ Tesla Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Palo Alto, California Worked on two platforms, Autobidder and Powerhub. Inside Autobidder, enabled users to rewind time and analyze data through several replay features, fulfilling critical requests and saving users' hundreds of hours. Also, reduced clutter on data visualizations by ideating, designing, developing, and deploying a new menuing system. Inside Powerhub, delivered designs and then implemented changes to emphasize time and date in historical views. Alongside features to improve the application, critical bugs were diagnosed and squashed in search, table, and date-time filtering components. ### Software Engineer @ HXOUSE Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 Engineered https://hxouse.com to generate interest in new programs by developing unique three.js and GSAP experiences, creating a GraphQL API, and leveraging Gatsby to optimize SEO and load times. This led to 27,766 unique visitors at launch. Developed a full-stack app with OpenCV, React, Node.js, MongoDB and GraphQL. Expanded HXOUSE’s operations by ideating events and curriculum, designing packages in Adobe InDesign, and pitching to industry leaders. Designed, developed, and operated https://shop.hxouse.com. ### Software Developer @ Mappedin Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Waterloo, Ontario Developed Mappedin Web, a JavaScript app that integrates maps into clients’ websites. - Ramped up in days, deploying 7 client-requests into production during the 1st sprint. Lead developer on healthcare web product for St. Joseph’s Hospital. - Developed MVP within a sprint & the fully featured product within a month. - Product was presented at MaRS’ “Procurement by Co-Design”; won $10,000. - Features include a search algorithm, redesigned user flow, turn-by-turn directions, a marker to indicate the user’s position, tooltips and kiosk-to-mobile interaction.
