# Joan Williams > Senior Product Designer @Uber, Rider Core Location: Seattle, Washington, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/joan I'm a Product Designer at Uber with a master's degree in HCI through the University of Washington's MHCI+D program. I love creating positive change through building relationships and supportive communities inside and outside of my companies to understand users, contexts, systems, and teams to identify opportunities to create innovative products that scale and have high confidence. Nothing brings me more joy than creating safe and fun spaces for teams and talented people to come together in the design process to bring out the best in our products. I also have an extensive background in visual design for marketing and communications, with additional experience in front-end web development. In my spare time, I enjoy being a part of the UX community in Seattle and paying it forward. I'm currently involved in the University of Washington's MHCI+D and HCDE community of current students, alumni, and industry advisors. I'm also an advisory board member, guest speaker, critique, and facilitator of the University of Washington's PCE UX and Visual Interface Design certificate program, and I've spoken at Uber Design Night, the Experience Design Summit for Academy OX, MHCI+D, and Ladies That UX. I have group sessions available on ADPList to continue to support our design community. I'm also the Block Watch Captain for my neighborhood, an avid urban farmer, and I love hiking the PNW. In the past, I've enjoyed being part of community organizations such as Toastmasters, the West Seattle Running Club, Boealps (mountaineering), and West Seattle Co-op Preschools. ## Work Experience ### Senior Product Designer @ Uber Jan 2025 – Present | Seattle, Washington, United States Rider Core Experience team, continuing as lead designer for Trip Experience.
