Hi there! I’m Joanna, a Software Engineer @ Chewy specializing in iOS development. I’m passionate about building intuitive, responsive mobile experiences that put users first. While iOS is my core focus, I also have experience in Android development using Kotlin, Java, and Jetpack libraries. 

I love working on UI/UX challenges, collaborating across cross-functional teams, and delivering features that enhance mobile app performance and user engagement. With a dual background in Computer Science and Biology, I’m also especially excited about the intersection of science and technology.

- Led a full navigation refactor of the Chewy iOS app, resolving broken tab-context and backstack behavior across core surfaces. Designed and implemented a tab-agnostic navigation architecture that unblocked major feature work, improved UX consistency, and reduced navigation-related regressions.
- Built and launched platform-critical features, including: passkey login for secure, passwordless authentication and a Vet Care scheduler enabling in-app appointment booking via hybrid web integration. Delivered performant, scalable UI using SwiftUI, UIKit, and WebKit.
- Improved developer experience by standardizing engineering workflows and raising code quality standards. Authored internal documentation for common tasks, promoted clearer PR practices, and contributed to shaping team-wide development norms for faster onboarding and long-term maintainability.

- Conducted molecular biology research on cardiac glycoside biosynthesis in Erysimum (wallflower). Cloned pSRK expression vectors in E. coli, expressed OSC genes, and prepared protein samples for GC-MS analysis.
- Developed and refined a computational model of Sendai virus fusion kinetics using MATLAB’s ODE solver, translating biochemical mechanisms into first-order rate equations to simulate membrane fusion dynamics.
- Collaborated with faculty mentors across biology and chemistry departments, integrating lab-based experimentation with computational modeling to explore plant and viral biochemical pathways.
