In 2019 I worked primarily on Excel Online features with teammates locally and in Israel. ### UX Designer II, Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise @ Microsoft Jan 2012 – Jan 2016 | Redmond, Washington, United States UI, UX, visual design, illustration, branding, data visualization In 2012 the Azure design team was about a dozen people. By 2016 "Studio 44" was almost a hundred people designing for an incredible portfolio including Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure, Power BI, Power Apps, Flow, and App Source. It was amazing and consuming to be a part of such growth. First task was helping the on-boarding Azure partners wrestle their information into the Azure marketing space. Then during the Azure portal redesign I tackled patterns for all eight sizes of our living tiles, including interactive data visualization patterns, and I oversaw implementation. My search for data-vis guidance (and a creative director push) got me intimately involved in the incredible One Microsoft effort. The determined incubation of a culture of collaboration and cohesiveness is led by incredible people such as those working on Microsoft Design Language and Microsoft Web Framework. I helped rally the data vis consistency and best practices discussions and got to collaborate with expert data visualization professionals from Microsoft Research, Excel, MSN, Microsoft Envisioning Center, Application Insights, Power BI, and Delve: work that fed back into Microsoft Design Language and guidance docs and contributed to connecting disparate departments. I was also consulting with on-boarding partners and managers daily on their data visualizations and tile needs. When Azure discontinued work on their data vis, I continued consulting with various internal groups but began more varied work, everything from search-and-sort on tables to heavily-illustrative collateral for internal events. I worked briefly on Power Apps, designing sophisticated template designs and identifying a range of typography for user customization. Then I contributed to UX development of Microsoft Stream, the UX for Dynamics 365, and branding and style guidance for the Cloud and Enterprise division. ### Graphic Designer @ Amazon.com Jan 2011 – Jan 2012 Contract on site. Worked primarily on artwork prep for Disc on Demand (part of Create Space) manufacturing: meticulous quality control and heavy artwork alteration, utilizing strong Photoshop and organization skills to turnaround high quantities of art quickly. ### Art Director, Designer @ Restaurants Unlimited, Inc. Jan 2010 – Jan 2011 | Seattle WA Battle-paced, in-house design work: heavy output on tight deadlines. RUI owned 20 brands across the US. I was the only in-house creative: print and digital. • Creation of marketing materials for individual restaurant initiated efforts: print ads, coupons, direct mail, internet ads, vinyl banners, clings, A-frame signs, email & web graphics, etc • Creation of collateral support for all restaurants: van graphics, screen-printed shirts, event tents, parking garage & outdoor business signs, redesigns of business cabinets, stickers, magnets, etc. • Creation of marketing materials & collateral for corporate-based initiatives coordinated across multi-location brands &/or across many/all brands but often tailored for ea location/brand. • Finding & purchasing appropriate stock/resources • Brand resource audit, organization, creation, and distribution, managing legal rights such as relicensing of photos and hiring artists • Creation of style guides (None of the brands had style guides when I was hired. Six of them had style guides when I left: three led by outside agencies I worked with and three done by me in-house.) • Managing visual transition between old & refreshed branding • Managing/policing brand handling by other departments & external vendors/agencies • Art direction of outside agencies/vendors & temporary in-house production help • Art direction of photographers, both in-house & on location • Heavy photo editing of food, location, & people shots • Vendor management: quotes, order services & materials, retrieve production parameters, & complete projects within budget & deadline • Copy-writing (occasionally) • Creation of a design-request process for the restaurant managers • Managed a by-the-hour online to-do-list to facilitate instant transparency of my workload and project status to my manager and all project stakeholders • Almost all internal production work & some production for outside agencies to help meet our campaign budgets ### Graphic Designer @ Rosanna, Inc. Jan 2009 – Jan 2010 Concept development, mockups and renderings, artwork, and production files. I designed the Spring/Summer 2010 catalog and art directed the product shots, some of which required editing magic since we hadn’t received all the product in time for the shoot. ### Graphic Designer @ Superbig Creative Jan 2008 – Jan 2009 | Seattle Intern, then freelance. As a freelancer I did primarily beverage packaging mock-ups and photo editing. ### Graphic Designer @ Koryn Rolstad Studios Jan 2008 – Jan 2009 Based on artist's creative direction and concepts, helped develop visuals for national and international project RFP's, project mock-ups, and environmental design production graphics.
