Identifying opportunities to solve challenges in the Datto ecosystem leveraging microservices. Working with a scrum team to design and build out these new microservices utilizing Go-lang and Kubernetes.
Key Accomplishments:
Creating a Go-lang microservice to mitigate Microsoft API throttling for Datto clients. This reduced total Microsoft throttling errors by 97%.
Architecting a Go-lang microservice to replace the OAuth2 login flow currently implemented in our legacy codebase.
Working with SRE to define productionisation checklists and health metrics for new microservices, leveraging Prometheus and VMAlert for monitoring and alerting.
Ongoing work balancing both new feature development and legacy codebase retirement.
Leveraging domain knowledge to both support the onboarding of new hires and the broader SaaS Protection team.

Continued working with the SaaS Protection team, stepping away from maintaining the legacy codebase and leaning into new feature design and implementation. Largely focused on adding new features to Symfony (PHP) and Scala codebases while diving into the realm of Go-lang microservices.
Key Accomplishments:
Led a scrum team across multiple epics from start to finish, coordinating with Product Owners and Stakeholders to ensure our implementations met customer needs.
Designed and created a client-level report to visualize backup health for 5,600 resellers. Leveraged ElasticSearch, Scala, and Symfony (PHP) in multiple codebases to generate and email these reports daily.
Created a Go-lang microservice deployed via Kubernetes to handle both our base client onboarding flow and integration to the newly acquired SaaS Defense product.
Took ownership of an in-flight distributor opt-in flow for SaaS Protection, coordinating cross-functionally to drive the initiative to completion.

Worked on the SaaS Protection (formerly Backupify) product, a secure SaaS backup and recovery solution for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace data. Primarily focused on supporting the legacy Ruby on Rails code while adding new features to the modern codebase utilizing Symfony (PHP) and Scala.
Key Accomplishments:
Led a project to integrate a Ruby on Rails application with another internal team’s SSO service implementing OAuth2.
Created a Symfony application during a Datto hackathon to reimplement our legacy Admin Support system into our modern codebase, eventually productionizing and fully deploying the application.
Fixed the top 10 security vulnerabilities in the legacy Ruby on Rails codebase.
Learned Jira, Git, and overall Scrum best practices amidst individual contributions and leading projects.
Regularly mentored interns and supported the onboarding of full-time hires.
