# Joseph Lynch > Staff Robotics Software Engineer, Technical Lead at Vecna Robotics Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/josephlynch Hard-working and passionate robotics engineer with experience implementing, testing, and validating motion planning algorithms on both simulated and real robotics hardware. My passions particularly include human-in-the-loop robotic applications. I’ve got an extensive track record of learning quickly on the job in multiple industries ranging from software development to embedded systems to robotics. I take a lot of pride in the quality of work I have produced for each of these organizations. Currently I am leading the robotic development for a multi-department research project at Northeastern University. My responsibilities for this project include eliciting the project scope/requirements, designing the software and hardware architecture, and keeping key project stakeholders updated on the project status. Working with Northeastern’s Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing lab, I am leading a project to use a Fanuc robotic arm to control the spray path and autonomously manufacture a cold spray part based on an inputted CAD model. The FISH (Fostering Innovation in Seafood Handling) project aims to improve human-robot collaboration to process, sort, and inspect seafood in a safe and reliable manner. On this project I have worked on the motion planning algorithms and high-level robot behavior. ### Embedded Systems Co-op @ Human Engineering Research Laboratories Jan 2016 – Jan 2018 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Developed a Physical Activity Monitoring System (PAMS) for wheelchair users. My main responsibilities were to develop the main firmware for this embedded system to collect, process and store the activity data. To accomplish this, I leveraged I2C, SPI, and Bluetooth protocols. Additional responsibilities included analyzing gyroscope and accelerometer data to calibrate the devices, modifying the circuit boards using a solder rework station to test/evaluate different electrical components, and designing and manufacturing a 3D-printed case for the system. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Hydroid, Inc. Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Pocasset, Massachusetts Developed software for the Vehicle Interface Program (VIP) for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) using C++ My projects included developing a remote-control interface based on provided documentation that included a PID controller as well as a test program to demonstrate the 3rd party software interface to potential customers. Throughout the development of these projects I wrote, carried out, and documented detailed software test plans. I also performed code review for other members of the software team. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Follett School Solutions Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Hingham, Massachusetts Developed software for the web-based Aspen Student Information System using Java. My primary focus was to maintain the unit test infrastructure for the Aspen product by writing new tests while fixing and updating existing tests. Additional projects included creating a web-based feature to automatically monitor server health and allow for simple restarting of servers. Throughout my internship I worked within an agile software team to triage and fix customer reported defects and bugs. ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Robotics - Computer Engineering Concentration Northeastern University ### The Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership at Northeastern University ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Engineering University of Pittsburgh ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jlynchnu - Portfolio: https://joseph-lynch.github.io --- Source: https://flows.cv/josephlynch JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/josephlynch/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-31
