# Josh Jeffery > Google X, the moonshot factory | Nonprofit Leadership & Mentorship | Blending Art, Design & Tech Location: Mountain View, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/joshjeffery I’ve always been captivated by the intersection of design and technology — an often ambiguous space that requires a mix of creativity, optimism, and flexibility. In my role at X, the moonshot factory, I help teams navigate these spaces and develop amorphous technologies with the potential to solve the world’s biggest problems. My background is in the arts but I have always fostered skills and interests in technology. I pursued these passions from college into my first roles in entertainment and design. Fascinated by technology’s capacity to transform the arts in unique ways, I founded an entertainment tech startup called Evil Genius Designs. I also originated the first lead technology role for The Andy Warhol Museum – the nation’s largest single-artist museum. During my tenure, I helped envision technological solutions to enhance curatorial storytelling and guest experience. I applied those skills at a much larger scale by being one of the founding members of Google's Experience Centers team - crafting hundreds of thousands of square feet of customer-focused spaces with interactive technology and theatrical storytelling. The opportunity to tackle even bigger challenges drew me to X. Today, I leverage my background to accelerate X’s early-stage moonshots, creating new businesses that aim to address global-scale challenges with breakthrough technology. I’m passionate about empowering my team of radical innovators and working together toward our shared goal of transforming lives and safeguarding our planet. Most recently, I'm on the leadership team for Google X's Project Bellwether, which aims to create the first prediction engine for the Earth and everything on it. Using a combination of AI and geospatial data, the Bellwether team is working to understand, predict, and adapt to changes across our planet, with a focus on challenges like wildfire risk prediction and disaster response analytics. This work has been a highlight of my career, and I'm excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible. ## Work Experience ### Chief of Staff @ X, The Moonshot Factory Jan 2021 – Present | Mountain View, California, United States (formerly known as Google X) As chief of staff and senior program manager for Bellwether at X, I leverage my expertise in design thinking, cross-discipline collaboration, and scaling systems to turn world-changing ideas into viable businesses and support our senior leaders as we push forward toward our moonshot. My primary responsibilities include driving the development of Bellwether's groundbreaking predictive platform, which aims to create the first comprehensive understanding, forecasting, and adaptation system for the Earth and everything on it. I also lead the delivery of custom Bellwether solutions for key market partners, such as advanced wildfire risk prediction tools and AI-powered disaster response analytics. Throughout this process, my focus is on fostering collaboration between our team of entrepreneurs, machine learning experts, and domain specialists. By bridging the gap between innovation and commercialization, I work to amplify the incredible potential of transformative technologies and empower X’s talented team to maximize impact. ### Member Board of Directors @ Paul Taylor Dance Company Jan 2023 – Present Providing thought leadership for technology in the performing arts, and guiding strategic partnerships in this space.
