# Joshua Bassin > Software Engineer Location: New York City Metropolitan Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/joshuabassin ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Fliff Inc Jan 2024 – Present | New York, New York, United States ### Software Engineer @ Mojo Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | New York, New York, United States ### Software Engineer @ Mnemonic, Inc Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 ### Software Engineer @ Jane Street Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | New York City Metropolitan Area - Worked on the on-call rotation for approximately one-third of my time, where I responded to urgent issues with trading systems and investigated problems communicating with counterparties. - Developed a system for applying a selection of risk limit changes to order engines intraday for rapid responses to market movements. Later improved that system to deploy limit changes that couldn't take effect intraday at nondisruptive times. - Owned a library for building reconstructable distributed state machines on Kafka, then ported a series of programs for controlling active trading strategies onto that library. I then integrated the resultant programs with every desk at the firm. - Maintained and later rewrote a client for digesting and displaying logs from various order engines with support for filtering and on-the-fly formatting. I, and the rest of the on-call support team, used the client for real-time observation of the status of internal trading systems and counterparty system health. ### Summer Software Engineer @ Glance Networks Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Arlington - Ported low-level, event-driven server code in C++ from a BSD implementation to Linux. - Automated compilation and deployment of multiple codebases, hooked into a preexisting version control system. - Containerized build and deploy systems for simple integration and scaling. ### Lead Software Engineer @ Boston University Rocket Propulsion Group Jan 2016 – Jan 2019 | Boston - Active developer and contributor to the ground systems software for monitoring and testing a liquid fuel rocket engine and flight vehicle. Utilized a Java frontend and embedded C backend. - Designed a printed circuit board for the active transmission of telemetry data from the in-flight rocket to the ground systems. - Run a yearly high-powered rocketry competition. Coordinate and instruct over 50 total students on the design, manufacture, and programming of onboard sensor and telemetry suites. PCBs designed in Altium and programmed using FreeRTOS. ### Software Engineer & Field Technician @ Precision Home Theater Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Greater New York City Area - Installed and programmed home processing units for the autonomous control of the lighting, shades, and media systems in private residences. - Performed on site debugging and repair of faulty or damaged low voltage electrical systems. ### Junior PCB Developer & Embedded Systems Technician @ Boston University Electronics Design Facility Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Greater Boston Area - Designed and populated a test PCB for the Fast-Tracker Input Mezzanine Card in the CERN ATLAS experiment. - Created a high-speed digital signal processor for the Fermilab Muon G-2 Collider utilizing VHDL on a Zynq 7020. ### Computational Biologist Intern @ The Rockefeller University Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | New York City - Contributed to an algorithm in R for the statistical analysis of microarray data. - Created a management suite and GUI in C\# for the active monitoring of large batches of microarray output, streamlined post-processing, and implemented error handling. ## Education ### Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Computer Engineering Boston University College of Engineering Jan 2016 – Jan 2020 ### High School Diploma Syosset High School Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/joshuabassin --- Source: https://flows.cv/joshuabassin JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/joshuabassin/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-01
