I'm a recent graduate from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science, with a Bachelor's in Artificial Intelligence. I love building intelligent systems that solve real problems, diving deep into complex technical challenges, and finding elegant solutions to messy real-world scenarios. I'm especially passionate about the intersection of AI, software engineering, and scalable systems, and am excited to direct this enthusiasm towards creating technology that genuinely improves people's lives.
Over the past year as a Software Engineer at Zeal, I've grown tremendously as an engineer and product builder. I designed and implemented an AI RAG system from the ground up using PGvector and multi-stage LLM workflows, then optimized it for production—reducing API latency by 67% through careful SQL optimization and parallel processing. Working directly with our CEO and CTO, I helped architect major product features and maintained our iOS app for thousands of users. This experience taught me that great engineering isn't just about writing good code—it's about understanding user needs, making smart tradeoffs, and building systems that scale.
Before diving into industry, I honed my technical foundation through challenging coursework in machine learning, NLP, computer vision, and search engines. I particularly enjoyed building a search engine that achieved 0.58 MAP on TREC datasets and fine-tuning language models for mathematical reasoning—projects that combined theoretical rigor with practical engineering. I also spent time as a Teaching Assistant, which deepened my understanding while helping me learn to communicate complex ideas clearly.
Beyond the technical work, I'm drawn to the strategic thinking aspects of engineering—much like my interests in chess and go, I enjoy seeing the bigger picture and understanding how individual decisions compound into larger outcomes. I also love reading and writing, which keeps me curious about the world beyond code.
I have hands-on experience with the full ML engineering stack: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), Kubernetes, and both traditional databases and modern vector stores. I've worked across the entire product lifecycle, from research and prototyping to production deployment and optimization.

### Software Engineer @ Zeal AI

At Zeal, I get to work on some really cool problems at the intersection of AI and hospitality tech, as one of two engineers building and maintaining our restaurant discovery platform.

The most technically interesting project is working on our core restaurant recommendation system (which I helped construct from scratch). Getting this system production-ready means optimizing everything from SQL queries to model context windows—we end up reducing API latency by 67% through careful parallelization and caching strategies.

I also work on a browser automation agent that can handle private dining inquiries at scale. It can simultaneously reach out to dozens of restaurants on behalf of users looking for private room bookings. Pretty satisfying to see a process that used to take hours of manual work happen automatically in minutes.

Beyond the technical work, I get valuable experience collaborating directly with our CEO and technical advisors on product strategy, helping design everything from our supergroup features to completely overhauling our recommendation algorithms. Working at a small startup teaches me how to move fast, wear multiple hats, and always keep the user experience front and center.
