I currently work as an IC technical lead / staff software engineer, making health benefits more accessible and affordable for companies of all sizes that use Gusto.

The tech stack uses ruby on the backend, with graphQL and REST APIs for our network layer, and react and typescript on the frontend.

Engineers here at Gusto are product-oriented and product-focused. So my typical week usually consists of building new product features across the entire tech stack, while also leading or assisting in technical and product planning.

Traveling can be complicated, TripIt helps make it less so. Currently working on our php web app, while also migrating our mobile API stack from php to python hosted on aws. Simultaneously, I'm also working on a small team to integrate one of the latest front end frameworks (vue.js or react) to our web app.

On a daily basis, I work on creating first class Ruby on Rails web applications leveraging the latest javascript technologies for amazing UI/UX experiences. I'm lucky enough to work on a team, and in a company, that allows me to build products from scratch, meaning I am proficient and comfortable running a full stack environment. Current SmartZip projects include helping my team modularize and integrate service layer architecture, helping build and maintain internal APIs while still building feature rich applications.
