The first project my team shipped was JAR used by multiple internal teams. The JAR was built using Java, Groovy, and Gradle. It was built using Agile practices and test driven development (TDD). It therefore was shipped with 100% test coverage with 0 security warnings from the internal application scan. The JAR was promoted thorugh a CD pipeline with Jenkins and Artifactory. The next project shipped by team was a cognitive chatbot backend service consumed by an external facing product. The chatbot was built using a combination of Node.js and cloud services. It was deployed as a multiple Docker containers deployed to a Kubernetes cluster on a Cloud provider. I implemented a unit testing framework which included Mocha, Chai, Sinon, Rewire, ESLint, and Instanbul. The code coverage was maintaned to be greater than 75%. The Docker images used a CI promotion pipeline implemented with Jenkins and private Docker registries on Artifactory. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Acuity Insurance Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 Worked in a team to create an internal web application using SQL, Java, WebSphere, RAD, Java, Javascript, and DOJO. Started from nothing to build the entire stack and have the application into testing protocol before the end of my internship. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Jan 2014 – Jan 2017 ### Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence The University of Texas at Austin Jan 2025 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/thenerdassassin --- Source: https://flows.cv/joshuaschmidt JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/joshuaschmidt/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
