# Julian Rechsteiner > Human-Computer Interaction | Neural Interfaces Location: Brooklyn, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/julianrechsteiner I’m interested in building systems that expand how humans interact with technology. My work focuses on software systems, human-computer interaction, and intelligent interfaces. I enjoy working across the stack and turning ideas into real products. I’m particularly interested in emerging computing paradigms such as AI assistants, neurotechnology, and real-world interfaces. Outside of work, I like exploring new product ideas and experimenting with ways technology can interact with the physical world. Long term, I’m fascinated by how computing will evolve beyond screens and keyboards. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Synchron Jan 2025 – Present ### Software Engineer @ Synchron Jan 2022 – Jan 2025 | Brooklyn, New York, United States - Leading development of Synchron’s brain-computer interface (BCI) application - Building software that enables patients to control digital devices using neural signals - Collaborating with research, hardware, and clinical teams to translate neural data into usable software interfaces ### Software Engineer @ Haul by Fleetworthy Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 - Owned development of a core fleet-planning feature used by 1000+ drivers and later scaled to 10,000+ users - Refactored frontend architecture and internal tooling to reduce code duplication and improve maintainability - Built internal analytics queries and dashboards to support company-wide business intelligence ### Software Engineer Intern @ Workiva Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Bozeman, Montana, United States - Contributed to Workiva’s Planning platform, building features for sorting and filtering complex data structures - Built a migration tool that created graph database edges across ~3,000 production environments - Presented product demos to Customer Success teams to introduce new functionality ### Undergraduate Teaching Assistant @ Montana State University-Bozeman Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Bozeman Led programming labs for C and Python courses and graded assignments for ~30 students. ### Student Web Developer @ Montana State University-Bozeman Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Bozeman Worked on a LAMP-stack web application, building backend features, database queries, and automated server monitoring. ### Student Software Engineer @ YELLOWSTONE ECOLOGICAL RESEARCH CENTER Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Bozeman, MT - Led development of a scalable web application for accessing and visualizing environmental raster datasets - Built backend infrastructure using a REST architecture and MERN stack - Integrated Google Maps API to visualize geospatial data and raster file locations - Implemented CI/CD with Travis and automated deployments to Heroku - Later collaborated with YERC to prototype a React-based rebuild of Climatescape for real-time environmental data ### Instructor @ iD Tech Camps Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area I led a group of ten students weekly, teaching them the fundamentals of programming with Java. The students followed a curriculum provided by iD Tech, and I supplied additional material daily to challenge the more advanced, while providing cheat sheets to the less experienced to facilitate their learning process. ### Project Management Officer Intern @ City and County of San Francisco Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | San Francisco Bay Area I interned at the Department of Technology of the City and County of San Francisco through an internship program named Project Pull. Throughout my internship, I edited company forms, established Enterprise Agreements, used Microsoft Excel to rearrange data efficiently and logistically, as well as attended meetings and presentations. Towards the end of my fellowship, I teamed up with other interns from the program to present a hypothetical solution for the droughts in California. We conducted a presentation on cloud-seeding drones and created a prototype. ## Education ### Computer Science Montana State University-Bozeman Jan 2016 – Jan 2021 ### Computer Science Universidad Carlos III de Madrid Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 ### French Baccalaureate in Scientific Track, specialization in Computer Science Lycée Français de San Francisco Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/julianrechsteiner --- Source: https://flows.cv/julianrechsteiner JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/julianrechsteiner/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-23
