After academia, I went to work at Square in San Francisco and discovered that web development is my passion. I joined AppAcademy and, through immersive pair-programming, I learned Ruby on Rails first and then layered that knowledge with SQL, jQuery, and eventually JavaScript and React, building small projects throughout and culminating with a full-stack app. I got my software engineering start at Capital One Financial where I became an AWS Certified full stack developer and used AWS, Akamai, Node, ES6 and Angular on any given day to build and maintain an internal web page development platform. I've since evolved to be a proven technologist with 8 years of front-end and full-stack software engineering experience with particular emphasis in the financial services industry and specific expertise in React, Typescript, AWS, and Node. When not clickety-clacking away at the code, I am an avid outdoorsman. My blended background as an entomologist makes me a pain to hike with; I am constantly stopping to look under logs or check leaves for bugs.
