# Justin S. > Staff UX Engineer at Google Deepmind Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/justins2 Justin is a Staff UX Engineer at Google Deepmind, shaping the future of AI-driven interfaces. A techno-progressivist with a passion for designing and building accessible user experiences, Justin does his best work in the space between cutting-edge technology and everyday users. His creative interests extend beyond the digital, and outside the office you'll find Justin building handcrafted furniture, painting landscapes, or practicing a new musical instrument. ## Work Experience ### Staff UX Engineer @ Google DeepMind Jan 2024 – Present | Atlanta, Georgia, United States Currently, I work with Deepmind’s centralized UX team to prototype and build new interaction patterns on the frontiers of AI and technological breakthroughs. ### Senior UX Engineer @ Google Jan 2020 – Jan 2024 | San Francisco, California, United States While in Google Research, I worked with research scientists across knowledge domains to solve user challenges in Google’s advanced R&D projects. My team prototyped within emerging, ambiguous spaces like LLM-generated user interfaces, AI-powered creativity tools for musicians, and quantum computing. ### Senior UX Engineer @ Google Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 When I first joined Google, I was part of a talented team of User Experience Engineers that built cool stuff for cloud.google.com, from demos of Google's machine learning APIs to component libraries and living design systems. As with everyone at Google, my side hustle was learning everything I could about emerging technologies in artificial intelligence, the internet of things, and new innovations in front-end technology. ### Principal Product Designer @ Medallia Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area I lead a small team of design technologists that thinks about design at scale. We're in the process of building component libraries, style guides, and UX tooling that will help us create and maintain a best-in-class design system for enterprise SaaS (and millions of users), and push Medallia's product to be more beautiful, user-centered, and fully accessible to users who use assistive technology. ### Senior Design Manager @ Opower Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | San Francisco, CA I was lucky to have led the best, brightest team at Opower—a group of designers, content strategists, and front-end engineers who are responsible for Opower's design system. Under my leadership, we built Opattern—a front-end framework and style guide—so that the UX team's work could scale across a diverse set of products, and we work across UX and Engineering to turn design specs into accessible, responsive, and customizable products. I'm a huge cheerleader for operating front-end engineering from within our design organization, and my team at Opower was an industry model for doing exactly that with huge success! ### UX Engineering Manager @ Opower Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | San Francisco, CA I lead a team of talented designers/developers (we call them "desvelopers," or desdevs) at Opower, and we have assumed the role of coordinating prototyping and front-end development for our product teams. Our main goal is to make those things easier for designers and engineers with tools like pattern libraries, template systems, and styleguides, but our most recent project is a ground-up redesign of our products' visual design language! Check out the Opower User Experience team at ux.opower.com. ### Senior Designer/Developer @ Opower Jan 2012 – Jan 2014 At Opower, I design and develop prototypes for the User Experience team, which help us test and evolve new apps before sending them to the engineering teams to build. Our specialty here is behavioral science, and we do tons of research to discover the best ways to encourage consumers to use less energy, save money on their utility bills, and consider their impact on the environment. ### Designer / Prototyper @ Georgetown University Jan 2008 – Jan 2012 At Georgetown, I helped faculty teach better by incorporating technology and new media into their teaching practice. Specifically, I designed interfaces for course platforms, built prototypes for social learning apps, and designed websites for University initiatives. ### Web Designer @ General Dynamics Information Technology Jan 2006 – Jan 2008 ### Communications Specialist @ Anteon Jan 2005 – Jan 2006 ## Education ### Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communication, Culture, and Technology Georgetown University ### Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art and Visual Technology George Mason University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/justinsecor - Portfolio: http://www.justinsecor.com - Portfolio: http://www.opower.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/justins2 JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/justins2/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
