Designing and implementing backend APIs and data services that leverage caching, AWS S3 storage, and Parquet data formats to support efficient and scalable data workflows. Working within Agile/Scrum development cycles including sprint planning, code reviews, and iterative delivery of backend systems. Developing automated unit and integration tests to validate data transformations and ensure reliability and consistency of production data pipelines across distributed systems. ### Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society @ The Tau Beta Pi Association, Inc. Jan 2024 – Present Member of the Tau Beta Pi (TBP) Beta Chapter honor society, which is focused on scholarship, personal character, and service to the profession, community and university. Includes the top fifth of BSE seniors and the top eighth of BSE juniors at Penn Engineering. ### Embedded Software Engineer @ Nucular Jan 2025 – Jan 2025 | New York City Metropolitan Area Leading the development of a 15 W wireless power system for electric motorbikes that transfers energy to rotating wheels and powers integrated rim lighting effects. Taking the design from concept to prototype through low power circuit and power electronics design, resonant WPT system modeling, PCB development, and embedded firmware integration. The system features Bluetooth and CAN communication, current and voltage feedback, and a custom adaptive control loop for efficient, dynamic power delivery. ### Software Engineer @ DALI Lab Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 Collaborated with external sponsors through the full development lifecycle, from discovery and prototyping to deployment. One example is a wearable sensor system I developed a wearable sensor system to detect femoral nerve palsy in infants with developmental dysplasia of the hip, aiming to improve early diagnosis for patients using Pavlik harnesses using accelerometers and gyroscopes. ### Pulse Electrothermal Deicing Heat Pump @ Dartmouth College Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 Engineered high power PETD circuits delivering 120V AC pulses at 15A using custom transformers, triac based switching, and opto-isolated control. Gained experience in high current PCB design, embedded C, thermal and electrical modeling, 3D fabrication, and HVAC performance instrumentation under real world icing conditions. Our most efficient copper busbar prototype removed ice in 2:28 minutes using only 283 Watt-h, demonstrating a 39% energy reduction compared to traditional ASHP reverse cycle defrost. ### Control Technician @ Dartmouth Formula Racing Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 Implemented front end data visualization dashboard to monitor card data from various sensors equipped. Aided in implementation of traction control module that works in tandem with torque vectoring and electronic differential. ### EV Technician @ Electrified Garage Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | Greater Boston Modified and repaired electric vehicles. Performed maintenance on mechanical, low-voltage, and high-voltage equipment. Aided in electric conversions and rebuilds. ### Electrical Engineer @ Bard College at Simon's Rock Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 Developed the HV and LV systems for an electric conversion for a 1996 Suzuki ZX6R with a Thunderstruck ME1507 motor. ## Education ### Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering Dartmouth College ### Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Bard College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/justinsapun - Portfolio: https://justinsapun.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/justinsapun JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/justinsapun/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
