It was Global Entrepreneurship Week and Stanford had a competition to create value using Post-It notes. I had 25,000 gumballs in my dorm room closet and a simple love for Kiva.org and microfinance. I emailed my Social Entrepreneurship class. People wanted to help. We raised $3K from 300 students in 3 days. We won. 

Later a few of us did the actual work of figuring out the mission/vision, incorporating as a 501c3, and funneling real money through Kiva. But that story is harder to tell!
