# Karan Gaikwad > Software Engineer at Impel Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/karangaikwad Computer Science, Programming, Software Development, Data Analysis, Finance, Reporting, Business, Marketing I am a recent graduate from New York University with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Business Studies. I have strong knowledge of programming and software development, something I am passionate about and enjoy doing. My minor has granted me a supplementary understanding of business, marketing, and finance. Currently, I work as a Software Engineer for Impel.io, a company that offers auto dealers, wholesalers, OEMs, and marketplaces a digital engagement platform. I work mostly with Javascript, Python, AWS, SQL, and various other tools and technologies. Before my current position, I worked for two months as a contractor for Prospero.ai, a startup company that aims to make finance fair and prosperous for everyone. I worked closely with a lead engineer on a Python data scraping project to extract data from tweets on Twitter associated with specific key works. I also worked at NYU's IT department as a student intern to the BSO Finance Team where I ran queries on Microsoft Access and monitored monthly checks of various licenses and sales. I had a Business Development internship as well at Women Leaders in Data and AI, where I got a diverse range of experiences and got to work closely and directly with the CEO. At Bench Fashion Floor's, a CarpetOne company from my hometown, I developed interpersonal skills as I interacted with clients and coordinated estimates/invoices to relay information with customers. I have also had various tutoring jobs, such as Varsity Tutors, Kumon Math and Reading Center, and Juni Learning, where I've taught math, calculus, SAT practice, and computer programming to kids including topics as advanced as data structures/algorithms and recursion. With my programming expertise I've been able to complete several projects throughout my time in University so far. I have created my own portfolio site, written a ACL-Style conference paper about a Sentiment Analysis Twitter Response Bot I made with peers, designed a course registration system, phonebook application system, customer service queue in Java and many more individualized projects. They are all showcased on my portfolio site. I like using programming to build things and solve difficult problems I am unfamiliar with. I am looking forward to strengthening my knowledge of other languages and completing more advanced and challenging projects. ## Work Experience ### Full Stack Software Engineer @ Impel Jan 2024 – Present | New York, New York, United States Software Engineer on the Merchandise Engineering Team ### Software Engineer @ Impel Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 | New York, New York, United States Software Engineer on the L3 Support Team ● Works on team of four to create scripts that integrate company’s various products onto clients’ websites (JQuery/JS) ● Created full stack chrome extension tool for members of the non-technical support team to create their own integrations without a Software Engineer (JS, Python, Flask, HTML, CSS) ● Develops multiple internal tools such as one that assigns customers permissions to our API through AWS Secrets (Python, JS) ● Monitors scripts and automated tests to check and debug failed jobs or issues within the codebase ● Currently working on an end-to-end testing framework for the company's serverless Lambda functions ### Software Developer @ prospero.ai Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | United States Worked on a Twitter based topic extraction project and helped the company build its machine learning pipeline. ### Computer Science Instructor @ Juni Learning Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | New York, New York, United States Explained complicated topics including data structures, sorting algorithms, recursion, and more to kids Teaching Python, Java, Javascript, HTML, and CSS to students in online one-on-one classes Communicating effectively with students and parents to conduct classes, provide notes, and establish growth ### Business Development Intern @ Women Leaders In Data & AI (WLDA) Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | New York, New York, United States Worked as a Business Development Intern throughout Winter Break during my senior year.
