I have a passion for using computer science to help solve problems around me and for helping students become more interested in STEM fields. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Google Jan 2022 – Present | Mountain View, California, United States Youtube Search ### Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, Department of Computer Science @ Duke University Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for - CS 250 Computer Architecture (Fall 2019, Spring 2020) - CS 230 Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science (Fall 2020, Fall 2021) - CS 243 Programming Interview Skills (Spring 2021, Spring 2022) I lead Recitation sections, hold office hours, grade homework and exams, and most of all, help and encourage students to continue to study Computer Science ### Machine Learning Research Intern @ Duke University Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Durham, North Carolina, United States Our goal is to use a large dataset of bird images (iNaturalist dataset) to create an SSD (single-shot detection) multi-box detector using TensorFlow. After the model has been successfully created, trained, and validated, we will use the model to identify individual bird species and estimate species populations captured using a camera attached to a single board computer like an Nvidia Jetson or Google coral. ### Social Director, Mu Kappa Chapter @ Chi Omega Fraternity Executive Headquarters Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | Durham, North Carolina, United States Organize and budget for social events every semester. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Amazon Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | Sunnyvale, California, United States - Built a full-stack internal spreadsheet generation tool with React frontend and AWS Lambda backend with API Gateway to simplify Q4 preparation. - Took ownership of entire project from design to implementation to testing (unit & integration) to presentation. - The tool will reduce the team’s workload by several weeks every year and lower the chances of mistakes. ### Researcher in the Wright Lab @ Duke University Department of Biology Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area I worked with satellite data through Google Earth Engine to analyze changes to Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and classify land cover. This is a continuation of my Data+ project from the summer. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Sparc Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Durham, North Carolina, United States I was a front-end and UI developer for a startup SPARC. We used Agile software development process throughout the entire project. During this time, we successfully revamped UI of the site. ### Data Analyst @ Duke University Rhode Information Initiative, Data+ Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area My Data+ project is a ten-week summer research experience exploring new data-driven approaches to interdisciplinary challenges. I built tools to analyze and visualize geospatial and remote sensing data arising from the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge (ARNWR). I also produced interactive maps of physical characteristics that were tailored to specific refuge management professionals and built classifiers for vegetation detection in LandSat imagery. ## Education ### Bachelor's degree in Double Major in Computer Science and Statistics Duke University Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 ### High School Diploma Great Neck South High School Jan 2014 – Jan 2018 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/katchang354 --- Source: https://flows.cv/katelyn JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/katelyn/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
