# Kathryn Lovell > Senior Software Engineer | Performance at Scale Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/kathrynlovell As a strategic tech and product leader, I’ve spent my career at the intersection of data engineering, ML infrastructure, and human-centered design—turning messy pipelines into sleek engines for insight and impact. I love untangling complexity, reducing latency (for both humans and machines), and helping teams ship smarter, faster, and more confidently. My secret weapon? A mix of technical execution, strategic vision, and a healthy respect for coffee and clean abstractions. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Quizlet Jan 2022 – Present - Refactored ML data pipelines to save hundreds of thousands in infrastructure costs. - Optimized client and server caching strategies to maximize speed and reliability. - Released several A/B test ML experiments regarding ad bidding and pacing. - Created the foundation for several high value video ad units. ### Software Engineer @ Quizlet Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 ### Software Engineer @ Stealth Startup Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | New York City Metropolitan Area ### Software Engineer @ Predata Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | Greater New York City Area Performed Requirements Analysis, Architecture and System Design, prototyping, data modeling, use case, constraint analysis, and component design. Added robust sharing capabilities to the main application, resulting in greater product use. Modernized the frontend build process. Created a new geospatial product. Introduced a comprehensive frontend testing process. Created a mobile-friendly version of the website. ### Research Development Software Engineer @ My Music Machines, Inc. Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Troy, NY In partnership with Albany Medical to create a state-of-the-art MIDI instrument, the Jamboxx, designed with complete accessibility in mind. ### Undergraduate Researcher @ RPI Center for Cognition, Communication, and Culture Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Troy, NY Enabled, using networked Ableton instances, performance orchestration with Jamboxx users from around the world. Handled visual technology for the performance space, an immersive environment lab. ### Software Engineer Internship @ STEP Tools, Inc. Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Troy, NY STEP Tools' Digital Thread for Manufacturing (DToM) is an open source application designed to interpret StepNC data and create a simulation of the described workplan. The DToM has two options that allow the user to either drive the simulation from a StepNC file or instantiate a live viewing instance using a machine that streams MT-Connect data.It utilizes MTConnect data from a live machine to drive a simulation of the machining tool. Then, through associative kinematics, a machine or fixture can be added to the simulation with correct movement in relation to the tools. I created the solution for emitting, receiving, parsing, and interpreting the MTConnect information from the machine tool, as well as the code to drive the 3D simulation from the data received. ### Software Engineer Internship @ Pitney Bowes Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Troy, NY User interface development and testing for Mapinfo Pro, a locational data analytics engine. The team swiftly integrated me into their extremely Agile environment. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute ### Distinction Certification in Advanced Calculus with Financial Engineering Applications Baruch College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/kathryn-lovell-688845112 - Website: https://kathrynlovell.tech --- Source: https://flows.cv/kathrynlovell JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/kathrynlovell/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-20
