# Katrina Baniak > SWE @ Roblox Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/katrinabaniak Hi! I'm a senior at Northwestern University, finishing up a combined BS/MS in computer science. I have a passion for creating intuitive and beautiful UI. As an experienced Java and JavaScript programmer with an affinity for picking up new technology, I'm looking for a fulltime role that lets me keep delighting users. Let me know if you'd like to chat! ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Roblox Jan 2023 – Present | San Mateo, CA • Owned the Java control-plane service for Roblox's Streaming Platform, deploying and managing over 200 production Apache Flink jobs for real-time data processing across Kubernetes clusters. • Led the migration from AWS to Roblox's on-prem data center, achieving zero data loss and saving $5.1M/year. • Architected the automigration of 1,045 batch pipelines, ensuring 99.997% accuracy and completing the migration 3 months ahead of schedule. • Developed the Streaming Platform's observability layer — alerts, dashboards, and runbooks — enabling self-service incident resolution across multiple product teams. ### Peer Mentor @ Northwestern University Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 | Evanston, Illinois, United States As a peer mentor I have been an instructor for both Data Structures & Algorithms as well as Introduction to Programming. I held bi-weekly office hours for a 100 person class to help students understand fundamental data structures and programming concepts, as well as debug programming assignments. ### Student Services Aide, Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences @ Northwestern University Jan 2019 – Jan 2023 | Evanston, Illinois Every quarter, I created and coordinated the waitlist form and spreadsheet for all IEMS undergraduate courses using google spreadsheets’ pseudo-SQL language. I am also responsible for developing weekly newsletters for all undergraduates in Northwestern’s IEMS Department. ### Fullstack Engineering Intern @ Zoom Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | San Jose, California, United States As my intern project, I created a Zoom App for the Zoom Marketplace from start to finish. The app integrates with the Zoom Events Networking API to pull user profile information, then display that information as a business card filter while users are in Zoom meetings. In addition to the in-meeting functionality, I developed a webpage for customization of the card connected to a database, enabling settings to persist. The app makes the Zoom Events experience more cohesive with other Zoom products by carrying the information from Zoom Events into meetings with the user. Additionally, the app will be used going forward to test changes to the Zoom Events Networking API prior to being exposed for third party use. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Intuit Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | Mountain View, California, United States My main project was decomposing one of the Quickbooks payroll reports, which included updating the styling and shifting to the new technology stack used by all reports. As a member of an Agile development team, I worked on both front and backend stories, from the JavaScript UI to using GraphQL to pull information from the Quickbooks database. I created new schema, an exportable module for document creation, as well as fixing numerous bugs in the UI. ### Engineering Intern (Applications Development) @ CNA Insurance Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Chicago, Illinois, United States Throughout the internship, my team and I added components to improve the UI design of the Appetite Application, a searchable online tool for small business insurance agents. As a fullstack engineering intern, I implemented a complete styling overhaul, pagination features, and filter functionality for deployment to CNA’s servers for customer use. The intern team worked collaboratively using Agile Development methodology. ### Summer Camp Counselor @ YMCA of the USA (National Resource Office) Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Lexington, Kentucky Area I worked as a camp counselor for children ages 6 - 12 throughout the duration of the summer. My responsibilities included engaging large groups of children in a variety of activities while supervising them in both indoor and outdoor spaces. I also frequently organized supplies to prepare for future activities and interacted with parents at the check-out desk. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS | Master of Science - MS in Computer Science Northwestern University Jan 2019 – Jan 2023 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/katrina-baniak --- Source: https://flows.cv/katrinabaniak JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/katrinabaniak/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
