# Keith Holjencin > Digital Product Designer : UI + UX / HTML / CSS / JS / Rails / Git / Design Systems / Customer Research / Product Management / Jobs to be Done / Shape Up Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/keithholjencin I’ve been a Product Designer for 10 years (Kickstarter, BarkBox, Brad Frost), and designing sites for over 20 years. I love bringing my designs from start to launch by conducting customer interviews, using design software, and then making them real in the codebase with HTML, CSS, & JS as I work together with developers. I am driven to understand customers and design products that better fit their situation. ## Work Experience ### Lead Product Designer @ DistroKid Jan 2020 – Present I joined as their first in-house designer. I lead design efforts from initial sketches to building with HTML, CSS, and JS across multiple products. Additionally, I am establishing the design process, integrating the Jobs to be Done framework, and collaborating with Product Managers on product strategy. ### Lead Product Designer / Founder @ Consider App Jan 2018 – Present | Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States I am currently designing and developing this using Ruby on Rails. Consider lets close friends privately share thoughtful long-form recommendations with one another. ### Lead Product Designer @ Sesame Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | New York, New York, United States I designed prototypes and landing pages used while conducting customer research to inform new products and site features that would enable small businesses to use fixed-priced healthcare. ### Product Manager @ Auth0 Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 I organized and conducted customer interviews with Chris Spiek, an architect of the Jobs to be Done framework and Head of Product at Auth0. I then used those interviews to write Business Cases that detailed the problem space around customer pain points, trade-offs, and the progress they were trying make. These Business Cases informed product strategy and outlined valuable opportunities for customers and Auth0 that were scoped and prioritized with Engineering and Design. ### Product Design Lead @ Kickstarter Jan 2014 – Jan 2018 | Greater New York City Area Product Design Lead / Discovery Team: I led Design for all of Kickstarter's category pages, search, and project recommendations. I co-created their first customer research process and used the Jobs to be Done framework. Design Systems, International, & Payments Team: I contributed to creating and maintaining our design system and documentation. I helped launch Kickstarter in 10 new countries, support 3 new languages, and 12 new currencies. Ranked #12 in Kickstarter codebase by commits: I am still ranked #12 by commits from designing and building production-ready components and pages directly in the codebase through peer-reviewed pull requests. ### Frontend Designer @ Brad Frost Web & Global Moxie Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 Time Inc. wanted a full design system to accompany its redesign to let each of its brands stand on their own, but still feel part of the Time Inc. family. I teamed up with Brad Frost, Josh Clark, Melissa Frost, and a handful of other talented folks to complete this massive (beautiful) undertaking. ### Lead Product Designer / Frontend Designer / Brand Designer / Design System Designer @ BARK Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 Redesign: I was responsible for a full responsive redesign. This includes everything from subscribing to account settings, and marketing pages to ads. It was all tied together by creating the initial Design System later expanded on by the growing team. New Branding: BarkBox wanted to do good in the world, and have fun at the same time. And the brand reflects that with charming hand-drawn illustrations and a sprinkle of humor in their copy. This was loads of fun right down to pitching in on hand-stamping and filling each BarkBox together. We even got the tissue paper inside to match the BarkBox blue. ### Product Designer @ Forrst, LLC Jan 2009 – Jan 2012 | Greater New York City Area Design for community building: I designed to keep the quality of Forrst membership intact while growing to over 50,000 members with a unique invite system, and connecting then with career opportunities through our Job Board. In 2012, Forrst was acquired by ColourLovers, and then later by ZURB. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science in Web Design & Multimedia Art Institute of Pittsburgh ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/keithholjencin - Portfolio: https://holjencin.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/keithholjencin JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/keithholjencin/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-31
