I lead user research, testing, and design review sessions. Solve complex interdependent system design problems and designed large-scale projects like analytics dashboards and an internal dashboard build tool. Drive UX value to the product team by providing insight and knowledge gained from user research in an easily consumable manner. I manage a project team and do typical project management duties as well. ### Product Designer @ Panasonic β Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Mountain View, California As the only designer at Fammili (startup backed by Panasonic), I had to think more than just how the app looks and how our users interact with it. When I first joined the team, I immediately started conducting user interviews to define our target audience and derive personas and archetypes. User study sessions also included a testing portion to verify assumptions made on our first MVP. Understanding our users' weekend planning behavior allowed me to design the app to directly solve their pain points. After designing the UX/UI of the second MVP, we put it out for our second round of testing. Parallel to designing the app, I improved the interaction between our brand and audience by creating marketing materials, a website, an explainer video and tutorial video. ### User Experience Designer @ IdentifiBio Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Irvine, CA In my senior design class, our group of five members was paired with our sponsor IdentifiBio. We developed a patient-side login system for the application which includes functionalities such as document uploading, signing, chatting, and appointment scheduling. Shortly after, I was hired as an UX/UI designer. My core responsibilities were to design the interface, create prototypes, and conduct user testing on them. Initial mockups were created in Figma with influences of Apple's design guidelines, and prototypes based off of the mockups were created in InVision and Origami Studio. ### UX Design Intern @ Benefit One Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Tokyo, Japan During my 2017 summer, I went to Japan to work for Benefit One, under the PASONA International Exchange program. Us 15 aspiring professionals were selected from over 500 applicants worldwide to participate in the program. For the first three weeks of the program, I accompanied salesmen to their meetings to understand how the company operates it B2B2C business model. After that, I worked mainly for the Media Group to develop a mobile homepage redesign. Utilizing my skills and knowledge in web development and UX design, I successfully created a redesign that solved problems with the existing website, while following my own self-made iterative development process. Over the course of five weeks, I completed five static designs (Figma), three working prototypes (Origami Studios & Atomic.io), a usability testing session for each prototype, and five presentations. Out of all my college years, this summer was most beneficial and advanced me the furthest in my career path. ### Web Services Intern @ Stanford University Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Stanford, CA For my 2016 summer, I worked at Stanford University's Web Services as a Web Development Intern. My main project was creating quality assurance test cases in Behat, to repeatedly run on published websites to ensure their robustness. I also worked on many other projects like conducting user testing on Balsamiq and InVision prototypes for a new customer help system, creating webmail templates using Zurb Foundations, integrating developer tools into GitHub like Code Climate, Creating an automatic twitter feed based on releases made on GitHub, and using Backtrac.io to test whether published websites were broken. I also got a taste of what it's like to work in an Agile environment with bi-weekly sprints and daily SCRUM meetings. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Informatics UC Irvine ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/kenzomakitani - Portfolio: http://kenzomakitani.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/kenzo JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/kenzo/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
