I thrive on solving complex problems, mentoring and growing design talent, and shaping the future of human-centered design. ## Work Experience ### Principal Designer @ Maximus Jan 2026 – Present | San Francisco, CA ### Founder @ Thirtyfour Jan 2006 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area Thirtyfour is a San Francisco based design studio that crafts simple digital products. I'm the founder and creative director and am in charge of pretty much everything for now. ### VP of Design @ Carbon Health Jan 2019 – Jan 2026 | San Francisco, California As VP of Design at Carbon Health, I lead the design vision and strategy for an AI-driven healthcare platform and physical clinic spaces, ensuring a seamless experience for both patients and providers. My team spans product design, research, and architectural design, shaping the future of EHR, clinic operations, and patient-facing experiences by integrating cutting-edge software with purpose-built healthcare environments. I oversee the design of Carbon Health’s digital products, optimizing EHR workflows, clinic operations, and AI-driven automation to enhance provider efficiency and accessibility. At the same time, I lead the architectural design of our clinics, ensuring they are tailored for clinician workflows, high patient throughput, and seamless integration with our technology—bridging the gap between software and physical spaces. Key focus areas: → Defining and executing design strategy across digital products and physical clinics. → Shaping the next generation of EHR and clinic operations software, leveraging AI to streamline care. → Leading architectural design to create high-performance clinics designed for providers and patients. → Fostering a world-class design team, driving collaboration and innovation. → Integrating AI and data to make healthcare more personalized, scalable, and efficient. At Carbon Health, my work is centered on redesigning healthcare at every touchpoint—from the digital tools that power care to the physical spaces where it happens. ### Lead Product Designer @ Operator Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | San Francisco, CA At Operator, I led design for business tools and consumer-facing experiences, shaping how messaging and commerce intersect. My work spanned both internal operator tools and consumer applications, introducing new ways for users to discover and purchase products through conversational interfaces. On the business side, I designed a sophisticated web communication platform for operators, featuring a smart URL parser, bookmarking system, interactive product cards, in-message transactions, and an integrated CRM—all designed to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. On the consumer side, I worked on the iOS and Android messaging apps, designing a personalized shopping feed that adapted to user preferences. Through a detailed onboarding process and behavioral signals, the platform continuously refined recommendations, offering a dynamic and engaging shopping experience. Operator was an opportunity to explore the future of chat-based commerce, integrating design, automation, and user behavior insights to create seamless digital shopping experiences. ### Lead Designer @ Omada Health Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | San Francisco, CA At Omada Health, I led a team of eight multidisciplinary designers across UI/UX design, product design, illustration, videography, animation, and motion design. Together, we created a wide array of tools and experiences that supported Omada’s mission of delivering digital health solutions. As a design leader, I was responsible for building a collaborative design culture, establishing processes that empowered designers to craft both digital and physical products while fostering their professional growth. I worked closely with cross-functional teams to refine the end-to-end design process, ensuring alignment between business goals, user needs, and the broader healthcare landscape. Beyond leadership, I remained hands-on in web and mobile UI/UX design, shaping the user experience through early concept development, usability research, and iterative design. I integrated field research insights into our design approach, ensuring our products were not only intuitive but also deeply impactful for users navigating healthcare challenges. My time at Omada was instrumental in shaping my approach to design leadership, product innovation, and fostering high-performing creative teams in the healthcare space. ### Lead Designer @ Lovely Jan 2012 – Jan 2014 | San Francisco, CA As the first designer at Lovely, I worked on a range of web and mobile application features that enhanced the rental search experience. Over two years, I contributed to the design and development of key features, including Renter Card, Alerts, Inbox, and One-Click Apply, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience across platforms. My role involved collaborating with product and engineering teams to refine workflows and optimize usability, helping renters streamline the application process. Lovely’s user-centric approach and design innovations contributed to its acquisition by RentPath in 2014 for $13M. ### Lead Designer @ HealthTab Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 I led the end-to-end design efforts for HealthTab from its inception, transforming complex health test results into a clear, user-friendly experience. This multi-phase project involved designing an intuitive Point of Care system for pharmacies, enabling users to seamlessly onboard and access their health data. Following this, I designed the web application, where users automatically received a personalized online account upon signup at the pharmacy. This platform allowed them to easily monitor, interpret, and organize their test results. The final phase of the project was the product website, where we distilled a wealth of complex information into an engaging, easy-to-navigate experience that effectively communicated HealthTab’s value. Through thoughtful UX and UI design, I helped bridge the gap between clinical data and patient-friendly insights, ensuring a seamless digital experience across all touchpoints. ### Senior UI Designer @ Fitbit (now part of Google) Jan 2010 – Jan 2012 | San Francisco Bay Area As the first Interaction Designer at Fitbit and a core member of the early team, I played a pivotal role in shaping the foundational user experience for Fitbit's health and fitness products. I was instrumental in defining the interaction models and visual language for Fitbit’s first step trackers, digital weight scales, and dashboards—helping establish the design patterns that would later become industry standards. Collaborating closely with engineers and product managers, I developed intuitive UI and UX solutions that seamlessly connected hardware and software, ensuring a smooth user experience across web, mobile, desktop, and sensor-based devices. I helped design Fitbit’s first mobile app experience and contributed to the evolution of the online dashboard, enabling users to track and interpret their health data with ease. ### Designer @ iWin, Inc.
