I worked on Palimpost, a project that aims to connect the user's information through sticky notes and other devices. The information is stored on sticky notes that are uniquely identified by special printed codes for computer recognition. Then, textual information can be scanned into the computer via OCR (optical character recognition). Similarly, audio information can be stored into the computer via ASR (automatic speech recognition) and NLP (natural language processing). By associating information with sticky notes and allowing a computer to connect information associated with different notes, the computer can make inferences about the user and produce useful results.

In the UROP, I wrote a Java Android application for storing text, audio, and visual information. Then, I wrote PHP code for storing the files on a central server and managing the file information in a mySQL database. Using the stored information on the mySQL database, I wrote PHP and Java code for retrieving the stored files.
