# Kevin Chavez > Robotics, Computer Vision, Software @ Dex Location: Redwood City, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/kevinchavez ## Work Experience ### Founding Engineer @ Dexterity, Inc. Jan 2018 – Present | Palo Alto, California I work with a great team at a young robotics start-up, Dexterity. We are a full-stack team -- spanning work in mechanical design, mechatronics, controls, computer vision, user interfaces, cloud/on-premise hybrid software, etc. It's a fun environment, solving real problems faced by our clients. The majority of my own work is in computer vision, machine learning and software infrastructure -- helping our robots perceive the world and making it easier for our engineers to make the robots do interesting things. ### Software Engineer, Google Assistant @ Google Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 | Mountain View Building dialog systems for the Google Assistant. ### Course Assistant, Signal Processing and Linear Systems I @ Stanford University Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 Assisting instruction of introductory signal processing course for electrical engineering undergraduates. Developed material for and held weekly review/problem sessions. Aided student understanding in small group settings during office hours twice a week. ### Course Assistant, Signal Processing and Linear Systems II @ Stanford University Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 Academic support for EE 102B, one of the core signal processing classes for an electrical engineering undergraduate at Stanford. I held office hours, review sessions, and created supplementary material to aid in the students' understanding of the material. Course topics include sampling and reconstruction, FIR filters, discrete Fourier transforms, Laplace transforms, feedback control systems, Z transforms and their applications, and IIR discrete-time filters. ### Student Research Assistant @ Brains in Silicon Lab Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Stanford University I developed large-scale simulations of biologically-plausible spiking neural networks for robot control (specifically operational space control) using the neural engineering framework and Nengo, and connected the simulator to a physical robotic arm, controlling it in real-time. My work was part of a demo at the Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS) conference in December 2013. ### Resident Tutor @ Stanford Center for Teaching and Learning Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Stanford, CA Academic support for a dorm of 97 Stanford freshmen. Courses tutored include linear algebra, multivariable calculus, mechanics, electricity & magnetism, light & heat, modern physics, mathematical foundations for computation. ### Residential Counselor @ EPGY Summer Institutes Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Stanford, CA Teaching assistant for two physics courses: Cosmology and The Frontiers of Physics. Led daily study sessions for about 20 students, which included reviewing key concepts, one-on-one discussions, and mentoring for a final project. ### Business Intern @ Stanford Student Enterprises Jan 2010 – Jan 2011 | Stanford, CA Consulting for the re-opening of the Stanford Student Store. Organized speaker series for internal development of the business internship program. ## Education ### Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering Stanford University ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering Stanford University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/kjchavez --- Source: https://flows.cv/kevinchavez JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/kevinchavez/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-10
