I’ve been successful in launching 3 design systems in my 7 year career ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies. I have expertise in building design systems from the ground up and working cross-functionally to implement them. I’ve spend the last 3 years in health tech, deconstructing highly complex use-cases into simple frameworks to led design teams to success. My approach to design is utilitarian by nature and I’m a pixel precisionist. Previously I was the Lead Design System Designer at Stellar Health, a Series C Value-Based-Care company. My biggest adventure was founding an ethical fashion brand called MouthKarma in Kathmandu, Nepal and living there while I sourced and developed the clothing brand. Led prioritization workshops to discover design, product and engineering team needs and used the results to develop and maintain a clear roadmap to track and execute on design system progress. Collaborated with an external team to audit and document accessibility in Stellar’s product which led to significant improvements through color, font, spacing, alt tags, and keyboard accessible patterns. Increased the efficiency of design team processes by organizing and leading hands-on training sessions to teach advanced Figma features including complex components, booleans, nested instances, preferred instances, branching, auto-layout & complex prototyping. Developed a proprietary component creation process called the “Rule of Three” accounting for simple, common and complex use-cases. Co-founder of a cross-functional team focused on establishing governance processes regarding the implementation and execution of design system releases to the legacy product. Organized & led personal hands-on training sessions to teach advanced Figma features including complex components, variants, auto-layout & prototyping to the UX team. Upheld accessibility standards & ensured our products were inclusive for all by meeting WCAG 2.1 standards, which alleviated risk and allowed Cigna to gain & maintain clients in the private & public sectors.
