# Kinsey Mead > Hardware Engineering Program Manager @ Fellow | Leading the development of consumer products from concept to production. Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/kinsey My bias towards action has led me on a unique journey with many adventures along the way. I tend to gravitate towards new experiences and become energized by learning new things. This started in college, when I applied to most schools as a civil engineer, and then switched to mechanical engineering because I wanted to take the machine shop classes that my friends were taking. This love for the hands-on, get your hands dirty projects continued into grad school, where I learned to TIG weld and built a bicycle frame (which I lovingly dubbed Blue Steel). I also have an analytical side - I love statistics and immediately applied the processes of DOEs and hypothesis testing to a project I was working on while at Microsoft. This led me to completing the DfSS Greenbelt certification, which included topics such as Statistical Process Control, GR&R studies, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), root cause analysis (like Fishbone diagrams) and decision making processes (like Pugh matrices). All of these tools were a great addition to my background in mechanical engineering from undergrad and grad school. And then we found out about that fun little virus that turned into a pandemic. As many experienced, I felt a pull to explore what else the world offered partway through the pandemic, after feeling isolated and worn down from social distancing and working from home. I spent my time learning new skills and trying new things. However, I find myself missing the challenges of engineering and working on exciting products with a similarly driven team. So, I am now looking for an opportunity to return to an engineering and problem solving role. ## Work Experience ### Hardware Engineering Program Manager @ Fellow Jan 2024 – Present | San Francisco, California, United States ### NPI Manufacturing Engineer @ Proterra Inc Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 ### Technical Content Engineer @ Fictiv Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 ### Harvest Intern @ Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards, LLC Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Lompoc, California, United States Helping with the wine production for the 2020 Harvest ### DfX Engineer @ Microsoft Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Redmond, Washington - Improved yield and reduced rework cycles of assembly process using DOE, hypothesis testing, and data driven decision making. - Worked closely with contract manufacturers and mechanical design team to optimize design and manufacturing/assembly processes of parts. ### PRL Course Assistant @ Stanford Product Realization Lab Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Stanford, California As a PRL CA, I had the opportunity to work with undergraduate and graduate students at Stanford, coaching them through design projects from ideation all the way through to manufacturing. I helped students created meaningful, well-made end products with strong design. I also worked in Stanford’s Product Realization Lab throughout the week, assisting students as they worked on projects, teaching them how to use machines safely and effectively and helping them solve and work through problems. I specialized in welding, teaching many students how to TIG and MIG weld as a manufacturing method. ### DfX Intern @ Microsoft Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Redmond, Washington ### Product Design Intern @ Apple Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | Cupertino, CA ### Sea Kayaking Guide @ Outdoor Adventures Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | UC Davis ### Design Engineer @ Carbon Flight Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 ### Undergraduate Research Assistant @ Western Cooling Efficiency Center Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 | UC Davis ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Mechanical Engineering Stanford University ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Mechanical Engineering University of California, Davis ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering University of California, Davis ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/kinseymead - Portfolio: https://maketastelovewine.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/kinsey JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/kinsey/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
