I joined BuzzFeed in order to help build out Tasty’s Android app, and I’ve most recently been leading design efforts on the Apps team. My work at BuzzFeed as a Senior Product Designer includes:
—Redesigning the BuzzFeed iOS app in its entirety. In the span of less than four months I ran a design sprint, conducted a heuristic evaluation of the current app experience, conducted usability tests, and rapidly produced multiple concepts and prototypes at all levels of fidelity.
—Serving as the company’s part-time UX researcher. I am responsible for enforcing user research best practices and providing feedback to teams interested in running research. I have single-handedly reviewed every research proposal from February 2019 to present. Since February, BuzzFeed’s tech organization has completed 11 research studies, which is more than we did in all of 2018. I have also created standardized but flexible research study templates — for user interviews, screener surveys, heuristic evaluations, card sorting activities, and usability tests — and templates for sharing the results of research via written reports or presentations. And I have given talks on UX research basics and provided one-one-one coaching on topics including heuristic evaluations, usability tests, user interviews, and survey design.
