# Kyle L. > Software Engineer Location: New York City Metropolitan Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/kylel1 I consider myself a full-stack software engineer with a preference for back-end engineering. I enjoy asking questions and finding answers through data, given my scientific background and education. I resonate with the idea of software engineering being a craft that requires a wide-range of skills. I work with the right tools for job and I have worked with a wide variety of tools. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Green River Jan 2023 – Present ### Fullstack Software Engineer @ Regen Network Development, Inc Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 ### Application Development Lead @ Teachers College, Columbia University Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 Application Development Lead with the Web and Mobile group, in Enterprise Applications at TCIT ### Application Systems Developer @ Columbia University in the City of New York Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 | Greater New York City Area ### STEAM/Makerspace Instructor @ The Rye Arts Center Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 Working with students from 4th-8 grade on STEAM-oriented projects. Currently teaching classes about building things with electronics using the Arduino, building things on the web using the basic tools (html, css, javascript) and making robots with the VEX IQ robotics system. ### Web Developer @ Pluvio, Inc. Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Brooklyn, NY I have worked with Pluvio as a contract developer doing backend work. During my time here I helped set up a continuous integration pipeline. I also "docker-ized" the backend web service. I added clean and maintainable code on my own, and also worked to recycle code wherever possible, making improvements along the way. Overall I developed a clean, and easy to work with backend infrastructure. I also gained a significant amount of experience working with Neo4j. ### Tutor @ Huntington Learning Center Jan 2015 – Jan 2017 ### Graduate Student Researcher @ Syracuse University Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Syracuse, New York I spent two years at SU as a student and a researcher. I graduated in May 2015 with a M.S. in Physics. During my time here I worked on research projects with two groups. One group in the physics department and another group from chemical engineering. Most of my time as researcher was spent learning Python while performing numerical and data analysis. I am continuing to work on an image processing project for microscopy data. ### Tutor @ HLC Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Patchogue, NY I worked as a maths and science tutor. I taught students from sixth grade through freshmen year in college various subjects in maths and science. I also helped students prepare for standardized exams. ### Research Intern @ City College of New York Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | The Benjamin Levich Institute for Physico-Chemical Hydrodynamics Worked with Professor Joel Koplik on hydrodynamic simulations of particulate falling through a continuum fluid. In particular, I studied minimal models required to observe torus formations in the "particulate clouds". A phenomenon commonly observed in ink droplets in water. I also began to study treatment of the effect of walls on particulate as it settles in a fluid channel. ### REU Student @ University of Chicago Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Hyde Park, Chicago, Illinois Worked in collaboration with Professor Tom Witten on a project studying the phase lag between solar heating and surface temperatures on Earth. I analyzed large amounts of weather data to construct an annual temperature profile for ~70 locations across the Northern Hemisphere. We compared the phase lags extracted by data with a simple model and found consistently smaller phase lags. This demonstrated not surprisingly that heating and temperature cycles are connected with other more complex processes. ## Education ### Master’s Degree in Physics Syracuse University ### B.S. in Physics The City College of New York ### Arizona State University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/kblawlor - Portfolio: https://kyle.lawlorbagcal.org --- Source: https://flows.cv/kylel1 JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/kylel1/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
