As part of this team, I helped transition the pipeline from an HTTP sync job to a Kafka streaming pipeline. My most notable contributions as part of this team were setting up the Kafka topic and consumer, and implementing consumer logic as well as implementing dead letter object blocking. I worked primarily in Python and utilized Robinhood’s internal Kafka libraries. ### Backend Engineering Intern @ Robinhood Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 At Robinhood, I designed and implemented a web interface that enables engineers to troubleshoot and reprocess errors in Kafka consumers gracefully, now used by 3 Robinhood internal services. The interface allows engineers to debug failure case and apply operations such as skipping or republishing, for each individual issue or in bulk, creating a significant reduction in on-call engineer burden. I developed the application using React frontend, Python and Django backend, and custom Robinhood Kafka libraries. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Tripadvisor Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Needham, Massachusetts, United States Worked with Java, PostgreSQL, YAML, Flyway, Gradle, and more to build out a new version-controlled database-update system. ### Full Stack Developer @ Nasdaq Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Boston, Massachusetts At NASDAQ, I worked on a team of five interns to develop a prototype to surveil sports betting markets using financial market tools. I created features across the fronted and backend, including a REST API, using Python, Node.js, SQL, and React. I also created high volume and speed data acquisition tools to collect tens of millions of data attributes from outside sources like Twitter. I developed algorithms to infer transactions from odds movements, and identify anomalous activity from odds movements and social sentiments, which were then visualized using React-based real-time plotting tools. ### Model Engineering Intern @ Respond Software Inc. Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Mountain View, CA Over MIT's Independent Activities Period, I worked on the model engineering team at Respond to classify internal network threats using both unsupervised and supervised learning methods. Code that I designed and developed is currently running in production at a Fortune 20 financial institution. ### Interface/Protocol Developer - Wave3D @ Wave3D Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | San Francisco Bay Area Worked as a developer at a stealth startup developing new 3d printer technology (www.wave3dpro.com). I was responsible for developing the user interface for controlling the printer, as well as the communication protocol between the PC and printer, which allowed the printer development team to run extensive testing against a prototype of the printer to help perfect the design. My portion of the project was written in C++, making heavy use of Windows internals and multi-threading to produce a very resource friendly and user friendly interface.
