# Lakshman Kumar > Principal Robotics Software Engineer at Berkshire Grey Inc. Location: Greater Boston, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/lakshman I am a Robotics Engineer, currently working at Berkshire Grey Inc, that has some of the best and brightest roboticists in the world. I work at the intersection of Robotics, Computer Vision and Machine Learning. My undergraduate education in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, India provided me with the required foundation for a future in Robotics. Several projects which I did during my bachelor's , like Smart-phone controlled Quad-Copter, Agricultural Robot, have helped me attain sound practical knowledge, with which I have acquired laurels such as ESA's Student Engineer Award. I completed my Master's in Robotics at University of Maryland, College Park, and I specialized in Vision based Control of Autonomous Vehicles. This program covered all the four fundamental blocks of Robotics which were taught by Professors working at the forefront of advances in robotics. Apart from Robotics, I have also worked on Virtual Reality Applications. During the summer of 2016, I interned at Walt Disney Imagineering R & D , where I got the chance to develop the perception framework for a state of the art, autonomous , legged robot. This was a game changing experience for me as I learnt a lot that cannot be gained in the Academia. I also worked as a research assistant in the Autonomy Robotics Cognition Lab at UMD under Prof. Yiannis Aloimonos, where I tested Deep Reinforcement Learning algorithms on Crazyflie 2 to emulate Vision based homing behavior of Birds/Bees. I was also a part of UMD's Autonomous - Micro Aerial Vehicles team which participated in the competition conducted by American Helicopter Society in 2016. It has been a really fascinating journey so far and I hope of making a successful career for myself in Robotics. ## Work Experience ### Principal Robotics Software Engineer (Perception / Manipulation) @ Berkshire Grey Jan 2022 – Present | United States ### Senior Robotics Software Engineer (Perception/Autonomy) @ Berkshire Grey Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | Greater Boston Area At Berkshire Grey, we believe it’s time to radically change the essential way we do business.
