# Lars Palombi > Full-Time Software Developer at Sinelec USA Location: New York City Metropolitan Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/larspalombi As all technology developers know, the nature of software is change. As a recent graduate and a full-time software developer at Sinelec USA, I do my best to keep current. I am working towards my AWS Solutions Architect - Associate certification as well as the AWS Machine Learning certification. Becoming proficient in AI and Machine Learning is beneficial for my current role as we are developing workflows to fine-tune the YOLOv11 algorithm on custom datasets for the enhancement of roadside technologies. I am also expanding my knowledge of Golang, and am loving how simple it is to implement multiprogramming and communicate between concurrent processes. In my spare time, I am an oil painter and have recently begun to experiment with pastels. I love to paint people and intricate close-ups of nature and root systems, and am looking to improve my plein-air skills. I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in May at the top of my computer science class with the Robert Kyncl '95 and Luz Avila Kyncl '96 STEM Scholarship. I won a $750 AYURE grant that I used to lead a team of students to develop a custom open-source 3D-Printing Queuing Software for the Hudson Valley Additive Manufacturing Center. The software is currently in use at the lab. In terms of my art background, I have shown my art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and various galleries such as the Kinetic Art Gallery and the BlackBird Info Shop. I am also trained in CAD softwares such as Rhino and Autodesk Meshmixer. ## Work Experience ### Software Developer @ Sinelec Jan 2024 – Present | Kingston, New York, United States • Trained and deployed a YOLOv11 PyTorch model with OpenCV and GStreamer to track vehicles in real time, reducing reliance on $15k laser-based detection hardware. • Integrated PyTorch YOLOv11 with OpenCV and GStreamer in a multithreaded Python application to track vehicles in real time and convert pixel detections into road coordinates, eliminating hardware-based size estimation. • Developed Golang-based UDP trigger system with MySQL stored procedures, reducing storage costs by capturing images only when vehicles are detected by the machine learning algorithm. • Optimized ML algorithms for Intel CPUs using OpenVino, eliminating GPU dependency and reducing hardware costs. • Implemented Zabbix monitoring and email alerts for servers and IP cameras, increasing system reliability. • Designed REST APIs to access vehicle data, enabling integration with front-end applications. • Built multi-lane traffic simulator streaming data via 16 WebSockets, accelerating front-end testing in the absense of real road data. • Converted scripts into Linux system services with auto-restart and log rotation for the production environment • Authored technical documentation and Visio diagrams for future developers ### 3D Printer Technician @ Hudson Valley Additive Manufacturing Center Jan 2022 – Jan 2024 | New Paltz, NY • Created and maintained a 3D Printer Queuing system (QView3D), improving lab workflow. • Diagnosed and resolved technical issues, including breaks and clogs, minimizing downtime and maximizing printer availability • Conducted assessments of 15+ incoming printer requests/week, scrutinizing for build and mesh errors and act as a liaison between customers and technical teams, offering insights to facilitate file correction and resolution. • Conducted lab tours 3 times/year ### Private Tutor @ Unknown Jan 2019 – Jan 2024 • Conduct one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions, tailoring approaches to cater to individual learning styles and preferences for AP Calculus AB, AP Physics I, Java Programming, and Web Development for 12+ students/year while simultaneously balancing a rigorous academic workload and employment as a 3D printer technician. ### Exhibition Design - Coding & Hardware @ Moey Inc Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Brooklyn, NY • Programmed, developed, and implemented an Arduino-based stopwatch system for the Discovery Children’s Museum. Integrated various hardware components, including 2 sensors and 1 reset button, to stop a LED stopwatch when a LEGO car crosses the finish line. Demonstrated problem-solving skills by troubleshooting and optimizing the system to ensure reliable performance. • Produced a precise circular template design for the Metropolitan Museum of Art cabinet display. Leveraged pixel ratio calculations to develop an exact circular template to seamlessly integrate monitor graphics into a cabinet, enhancing visual aesthetics and user experience. • Developed detailed drawings outlining a potential projector display for the Brooklyn Children’s Museum in collaboration with the project team. Enhanced the deliverables package by provdiing visual representations of potential interactive display setups. ### Astrophysics Intern @ American Museum of Natural History Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 | Greater New York City Area Used Python and MySQL to gather data from the Brown Dwarf NYC database and compared the spectral types of brown dwarfs to gravitationally sensitive light features of their spectra to observe if the trends observed in other research held with a more inclusive sample size. Presented research at the Science Research Mentoring Program annual citywide symposium ### Surveyor on Quinta Do Veloso @ WORLD WIDE OPPORTUNITIES ON ORGANIC FARMS Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Elvas, Portugal -Devised a system from satellite images to map locations 2000+ trees on olive farm -Devised system to categorize trees based on olive size, type, and quantity -Manually took data on each tree over the course of the month -Plan to develop an application to make it easier for farmers to input/update olive tree data ### Assistant Art Instructor @ The Art Studio Workshop Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | Yonkers, New York, United States · Curate student art shows · Offer guidance for portfolio development/college applications · Create projects and assistant teach elementary, middle, and high school art students ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science SUNY New Paltz ### Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/larspalombi --- Source: https://flows.cv/larspalombi JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/larspalombi/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
