Architected and prototyped the database and API to enable the sale of third-party products, utilizing Airtable, DynamoDB, Amazon Athena, AWS Lambdas, and Algolia.
Designed database tables and wrote API endpoints using DynamoDB and AWS Lambdas for a community-building product forum.
Brought Glossier into GDPR and CCPA compliance by integrating the OneTrust cookie compliance tool. Documented and developed the procedure to ensure new features on Glossier’s websites would be compliant.
Led implementation for adding Afterpay as a payment method on Glossier.com, leading to a conversion rate increase of 10 BPS.
Wrote technical design document for Afterpay implementation, outlining how to extend existing checkout system to support new payment method
Served as engineering liaison with Afterpay and Stripe for project scoping and implementation
Worked cross-functionally with design, product, marketing and data teams
Iteratively updated Glossier’s cart and checkout system written in Rails, React, and AWS Lambdas.
Improved stability and reliability of cart/checkout architecture, contributing to a 75% reduction in error rate
Focused on experience for paying with Apple Pay and Google Pay; triaged existing implementation to identify areas for improvement
Wrote documentation for checkout process and cart architecture for internal use by the engineering team, resulting in faster onboarding and more consistent development of ancillary features
Led interview process for engineering hires; covered technical architecture and design, coding problem solving, team projects, collaboration, and culture.
Supported new hires as an onboarding mentor from orientation through their first feature deployment. Created a team-wide onboarding template for subsequent hires.

Tech lead for Targeted Offers project, working with team of four engineers, product manager and designer. Scoped and led work for developing Targeted Offers emails, allowing sellers to send coupon codes to potential buyers who had already added those items to their cart. Led launch to expand Targeted Offers to potential buyers who had “favorited” items but not yet added them to the cart.
Worked on the React tool for sellers to set up Targeted Offer campaigns, backend logic features for determining when to send emails, and implementing Etsy’s Salesforce integration for sending emails.
Further activities include:
Drove discussions on code review guidelines for my team, and created a template to be used as a starting point for other teams throughout Etsy to develop their own code review guidelines.
Organized a tech debt sprint - identified potential work, led a meeting with engineers to prioritize tech debt tasks.
Conducted over one hundred hiring interviews for interns, software engineers, senior software engineers, and engineering managers. Created a mock interview program to give Etsy engineers practice in conducting technical interviews.
Mentored high school interns from the ScriptEd program; helped to scope out work items; served as a point of contact for day-to-day technical questions.
Founded and led a weekly Japanese language study club; taught two “Etsy School” Japanese language and craft workshops.

One of four initial engineers for Etsy Studio, Etsy’s new standalone craft supply marketplace, creating a parallel website and checkout system to that of Etsy.com.
Implemented multishop checkout and shopping cart “save for later” features, coordinating with the Etsy checkout team to ensure Etsy Studio changes were made in an easily maintainable matter. Created a document outlining where Etsy Studio forked from Etsy throughout the checkout flow to facilitate understanding by the Etsy checkout team of how their changes might impact Etsy Studio. Developed post-purchase flow features, including the order history page and transactional emails.
