Pandora's Ad Creative department is a unique place to work. We act as an internal ad agency, designing display and interactive ad campaigns for major companies (such as McDonalds, Nature Valley, Qantas, and many more) for use within our suite of ad products (mobile/web/tablet). My specific role is the design and development of interactive ad products for mobile using the Adobe Creative Suite and HTML5/JS/CSS3.
A typical project begins with a presale design mock of the product userflow, used by sellers for a pitch. When the pitch sells through, I take any feedback and revise the presale mock, which is then externally approved by the client. From there I build and test the ad in-app and send it out for trafficking.
Some notable projects:
McDonalds' "Rolo Roundup": A campaign to generate awareness for the Rolo McFlurry. This was a Sponsored Listening ad product, where a user would interact for 15 seconds to unlock an hour of uninterrupted listening. The game prompted listeners to shoot Rolos into a McFlurry using the phone's gyroscope to tilt and aim, swiping or tapping to shoot.
Nevada Tourism Bureau 360 Viewer: Built using Three.js (WebGL), I made a 360 photo/video viewer for mobile where the listener would tilt their phone around a photosphere of a landscape with animated hotspots. The listener could tap the hotspots to learn more, link out to specific content, or dismiss the hotspot to continue viewing. Similar to the Rolo Roundup this ran as a Sponsored Listening campaign.
