# Lauren Lieu > Robotics Engineer Location: Newark, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/laurenlieu ## Work Experience ### Robotics Software Engineer @ Bear Flag Robotics Jan 2022 – Present | Newark, California, United States - Software development for autonomy in orchards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE_C4mgu--4 - Contributed to foundational autonomy infrastructure for tractors including diagnostics and state machine - Design, testing, integration and evaluation of safety-critical human detection components in perception system ### Applications Engineer @ Intel Corporation Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 | Hillsboro, OR As part of a concept development team, my role includes both R&D and product development. Our goal is to design, test and build new products that utilize Intel computing platforms to provide unique user experiences and usages of new technology. Each project starts from an idea within the team, and is developed through stages of brainstorming, prototyping, testing and demonstrations. For each project, this effort grows as my team partners with business groups to support the project and mature it to become a consumer product. ### Research Engineer @ Lab for Autonomous and Intelligent Robotics Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Harvey Mudd College As the team lead for the ICEX (International Computer Engineering Experience) 2013 team, my work in field robotics used a VideoRay Pro III remotely operated vehicle to map underwater cisterns. This role included travel to cistern sites in Malta and Sicily to deploy this underwater robotic platform and collect sensor data and integrate sensor hardware. Using this data, I also analyzed sonar scan data to develop mapping algorithms to visualize sonar measurements and work towards automated map generation. ### Researcher @ Lab for Autonomous and Intelligent Robotics Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Harvey Mudd College Programming in C++ and C# to set up the new Jaguar Lite robotics platform for autonomous navigation and localization. ### Clinic Team Member @ Intel Corporation Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Harvey Mudd College Designed and developed a touch display system with multiple active displays and projection. Testing and modifying tracking and gesture recognition algorithms for the system’s natural user interface. ### Hyperspectral Imaging, Applied and Computational Mathematics REU @ UCLA Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 Programmed tracking, segmentation and clustering algorithms to detect chemical plume releases. Ran algorithms on high dimensional video data to identify the presence of airborne toxins. ### Clinic Team Member @ CareFusion Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Harvey Mudd College Tested sensors to develop a working prototype of a portable automated identification device to accurately pair an intravenous fluid bag to its respective pump prior to medication delivery. ### Swarm Robotics, Applied and Computational Mathematics REU @ UCLA Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Los Angeles Designed the communication protocol and programmed the FPGAs for micro-cars at the Applied Mathematics Laboratory for robotic swarm communication and cooperation over the Internet. Paper was submitted to and presented at the 2012 American Control Conference. ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Robotics Carnegie Mellon University ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering Harvey Mudd College ### Skyline High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/lauren-lieu-88212436 --- Source: https://flows.cv/laurenlieu JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/laurenlieu/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-31
