Social Networking for Physicians

Medstro is a social network for physicians and medical students. As one of the five developers on their team, I worked on almost every aspect of the application, including groups, contests, friend requests, messaging, profiles, invitations, and resource collections. The application is built in Ruby on Rails with a SQL database, and it uses Haml and CoffeeScript on the front end.

Engineer on the Internal Tools Team

The Internal Tools team develops a number of applications in order to help the CI team manage, groom, and transform the data that goes into Optum One, a powerful healthcare analytics tool. I personally worked on Spec System, a management system for the main data structures used by Optum One; FMConsole, an application that provides job management and reporting capabilities; Quality Gates Analyzer (QGA), an application that provides tools to analyze data; and Synonym Manager (SynMan), a tool that manages mapping codes between controlled vocabularies. All four applications are built using Grails, Groovy, Javascript, jquery, Spring, and SQL among other technologies.

Participate in daily standups, release planning, and sprint retrospectives as part of an Agile development process.

Develop bug fixes and new features for the applications in response to user and QA feedback.

Work closely with the QA team and the applications’ users in order to ensure the best quality release.

Make any necessary changes to the SQL schemas used by the applications
